Foam Roller--Best Purchase Ever
« on: November 29, 2015, 03:23:55 PM »
I bought a foam roller and use it a lot. Absolutely love it, can be painful but has seriously opened up some knots and feel way better, especially in the hips.

I keep meaning to get one but out of principle i wont pay the 45 euro for 2 euros of foam. Im also too impatient to use the ones in gym or to stretch so it would be like a fatso buying an exercise bike.

Tape two tennis balls together and try that......many cheaper ways to do it.

I also find that stepping on the tennis ball on various parts of the foot really helped too

A 10 EUR PVC pipe works well on your back, and it takes only a few minutes.
BTW, these days, you can have a decent one for 15-25 EUR

Rumble roller is my fav
If u put the rumble roller under your neck and lay on your back you can massage your neck and the back of your skull side to side or in a circle-feels amazing

I've graduated to a piece of 4" PVC pipe, a lacrosse ball and a 12" regulation softball. Everything else is too soft.

You have to find the right groove for each area that you feel sore, but it's kept me from the Chiropractor's office!!!

They are damn effective!
My dad got me one at some hardwear store for $10 and came with a good dvd!

Just exhausting to do calves, hams, even quads. But rolling my spine on it really helps keep my fragile neck from being kinked.

Gym foam rollers are disgusting, everyone sweats on them, yuck.

The best $10 I ever spent was on a foam roller.  Replaced bi-weekly chiropractic visits at $30 a pop.

Sorry i probably misrepresented myself. I am not cheap, i do not need to tapw balls together and €40 or so wont kill me, the profit margin pisses me off. It is a piece of foam. I recycle it everytime i get an appliance, dont put khaki patterns on it and charge 10000% markup.

I am also lax with stretching which is idiotic given my constant shoulder pain but there you go. I hurt my vastus medialis impressing my son with a jump between walls before going bowling tonight when my legs are in pieces from training yesterday. I am smart but a total dumbass sometimes... this was some time.

I'm no expert in market prices for foam materials, but keep in mind that most rollers (most blue ones excluded) are made from dense high quality foams.

A roller or lacrosse ball around your shoulder blades might ease the pain in your shoulder area, but that just depends on your specific problem which is up to a doctor to diagnose.

It's not normal foam, lol! I tried using regular foam, does not work....
They go on sale. Winners has them for $25-30ish here. Probably cheaper in the US.

Ok fuck it i am a cheapskate. I can get a microwave for the same price though. Seems fucked haha.

I do get that it is a different foam, ofc, but i bet if i went on ali baba and ordered a shit load i would get sub $10 prices.

I assume that the surface of a baseball is softer than a lacrosse ball? (haven't tried any them)

I just start fights and turn my back but that's just me.
