eating in public
« on: December 01, 2015, 11:18:37 PM »
do you guys think people secretly "compete", trying to eat less in public than everyone else?  so many fatasses at work order these tiny ass meals and then moan loudly about how full they are... then order like 3 pizzas at home i assume.

i can't think of any other explanation.  even when i was in the "depths of anorexia", i still ate more than almost anyone else at work, assuming they eat the same way at home -- which is not fucking likely!!!  for example, this huge permabulker type dude's lunch always consists of about 100 grams of green beans and 100 grams of chicken, NOT an exaggeration.  probably weighs 230 or so at like 5'10.  i asked him about it one time, he said "man i dunno, i just can't eat anymore or i feel stuffed".  ::) ::) ::)

why don't you mind your own business?

Have you wondered if they watch you eating and then comment on the fact that you are just eating to hide your purging and anorexia?

So by that argument they couldn't give a shit about you, and yet here you are posting about them.

Do you think by chance they are on a forum posting about you?

Social media has created these liars and deceivers out of hundreds of millions of people.

You will notice that the more one is hooked on social media the more of a disgusting filthy liar they are. Take that 5'10 230lb rat that hangs out in your office and check out what kind of despicable human garbage he is. Guaranteed he is the type to post things online to make others feel he is someone who cares about humanity etc.

You are right to suspect that all of these are eating the nasty stuff at home when they are alone or around others who already know their dirty pig ways.

Obviously some getbiggers are these disgusting liars too, so let's wait to have one educate us about metabolism or other "medical" reasons why your subhuman fat co-workers eat healthy yet are producing more greenhouse gasses than all of Shenzhen.

just had a boatload of roasted veg, some tofu, cereal, ice cream, fruit and peanut butter

as a retort, i'd suggest you have some positive interaction with people who care about you irl for once, but suggesting that you're actually capable of "positive interaction", or that anyone actually cares about you would make me even more presumptuous than you  :o

The majority of people I work with are fat and a few do the same shit you mentioned, eat like a bird in the bait cabin but makes you think what the fuck are they eating at home to be so fucking fat, the same fatasses will comment when I sit with a huge bacon joint and a large bag of Doritos on a weekend while they eat rabbit food completely oblivious to how fat they are is all that really matters.

Most people in my office just get a Subway or something similar for lunch and snack on biscuits and chocolates during the day.
The women are always discussing diets but never seem to lose any weight. :-\

Nah, the fat asses at my work eat like fucking pigs.  The other day three fat ass chicks were sitting at a lunch table, each with a couple In and Out double doubles and a giant bag full of fries in the middle and they were just going to town.  It was gross enough to never want me to eat that shit again.

Another 'point' for simon.  Soooo easy when people just keep serving up the bait.  Don't we morons know that to 'win' you have to keep yourself out of the spotlight?

Ofc just.. Look at their fat bodies!

I often think this when a fatter type is eating a seemingly balanced meal. I think "no way that is your diet, that is the facade meal for coworkers"

I also think they (women) eat candy and chocolate on the toilet

Taubes makes his first big mistake on the very first page of this chapter.  He writes:

Lean people will often insist that the secret to their success is eating in moderation, but many fat people insist that they eat no more than the lean – surprising as it seems, the evidence backs this up – and yet are fat nonetheless.  As the National Academy of Sciences report Diet and Health phrased it, “Most studies comparing normal and overweight people suggest that those who are overweight eat fewer calories than those of normal weight.”  Researchers and public-health officials nonetheless insist that obesity is caused by overeating, without attempting to explain how these two notions can be reconciled.

The last statement in that paragraph is blatantly false.  These two notions have been reconciled over and over again in numerous studies.  It is well established that overweight people underreport their food intake on average.  In fact, there is a huge volume of literature of on this…so huge that it is surprising that Taubes missed it all.  The underreporting is quite severe.  One study comparing obese twins to their non-obese twin counterparts indicated underreporting of 764 calories per day.  Another study indicated obese subjects to be underreporting their calorie intake by over a thousand calories per day.  This is just a fraction of the data that is out there.  Yet, Taubes selectively quotes out-dated research that relied on self-report of food intake.  Taubes’s reliance on out-dated and low quality data will be a consistent theme through the remainder of his book.

The phenomena of underreporting is verified when you supply overweight people with the amount of calories they claim to be eating.  In one study, women who claimed to be eating 1200 calories per day were supplied with that actual amount of food intake.  What happened?  They lost 1.7 pounds per week.  George Bray reported on a similar clinical experience.
