But it wasn't as bad as jar jar..
Lucas got the backlash and only had jar jar in two scenes in episode 2...

Ultimately decided I can't do it. I just don't care, zero interest in seeing the latest. Tried to recapture that childhood interest by watching New Hope and Empire again, and I barely got through them. Bored to tears, all seems so childish now.

Some things just get lost in the past, I suppose.
But you are childish, can't believe you're 47  :-\

Saw it. Was ok, but I think that was mostly because it made continuous, self-referencing nods to the original. In this CGI world, and in my advancing decrepitude, the sense of wonder I had for the first one is long gone.  Oh, well.

Once was forced to watch one of the starwars movies as a child at a birthday party. Can't remember which, not interested either.
Between Starwars and 3rd tier superhero movies, really, nothing interesting is coming out of Hollywood today.

I'll stick to porn and basement antics.

I get this, but I think it set up future movies well, and I'm interested enough in the Ren/Rey/Luke characters to keep going.

It fails for not having the mystical sub religious discussions about the nature of the force.  This is why the Matrix was also so good.  Philosophically it is a bit more frosting on top of an already frosted cupcake.

Disney dumbed it down for the audience of kids.  Kids today are too stupid so they just filled the movie with CGI and explosions and a Kardashian style love story.

I think it will.

Main characters were not even aware the Force existed for the most part.  Should develop.

Which makes it even worse how quickly she mastered it not even knowing a thing about it.  A little flashback was all it took to train her.

There's obviously more to her than we know.

But, even if they did give us the answer, you'd just find something else to bitch about.

Obviously you're very protective of your love of Star Wars and refuse to see how dumbed down it was.  That's fine.  There's a reason why mass marketing works because sheep fall for it and believe the hype.

No.  From my standpoint, it has nothing to do with mass marketing.  I judged it on its own merit.

Obviously there's a lot of questions, and possibly flaws depending on how those are/are not answered, but it's just a fucking movie.

IF this girl was in Star wars not the man hating dyke archtype that was, Id watch more of it.

Girl power man hating was strong in the force awakens, giving many skillless morons more motivation to attack men and be crony commies.

That's the Disney formala.  Kill the parents. In this case Han and make the woman the hero with a funny animal sidekick witch was the brew.

Indeed. The CGI, if this is what was used, is seamless as f**k. Come a long way with it.

Apparently they spent a lot of time in the winter wilderness filming. So maybe cgi to fill in the gap.  Was the story any good? I hated birdman so hoping inuratu didn't make another cooky story.

Good story; not terribly unique, but interesting time period and circumstances. Simple revenge tale, really, and Tom Hardy is pretty f'n amazing, almost unrecogizable.
