I say this in all seriousness.

It's the distance your ass would be off the ground if you were taking a shit without a toilet.

IMO for bodybuilding that is perhaps a little too deep. Difficult to keep the "continuous tension" that works so well for bodybuilding. Just my opinion.

The problem is that you have to hit the brakes before you get your natural squat depth. Between the weight and the added momentum, that's a lot of downward force, and, stopping yourself short might do more harm to tendons and ligaments than whatever benefit you might be getting.

As an aside, it must be Christmas time. There's an actual training thread on Getbig ;)

I would think just walking through the snow in Buffalo is enough to keep the wheels solid. ;)

Good form!? His knees are all over the place, and that hip thingy he does when in the hole looks like a disaster waiting to happen. Good luck to the Clark Kent-looking guy.

So, let see what you can do with 573lb? I bet all you can do with it, is roll the barbell on the floor, so how you can know what decent squat with that weight should look like?

Some explosive strength displayed here. What works in his advantage is that he's able to keep his back straight.

Sure, do the same now and then when I'm in my 30s and 40s I'll be enjoying the best pain killers and spinal surgery money can buy.   :)

This place...   ::) :D

Smith machine squats aren't really squats, Clean & Press are Olympic lifts, not Powerlifts, most Getbiggers don't know who the legendary Strength Coach Kevin Tolbert is.
"Grimmick" Grimek was an "O lifter" not a Powerlifter.

Tolbert

Tolbert taught me how to squat.
True story.
He was a tops of thighs parallel to the floor guy (and he had a knee issue from football).
His form was perfect, better than any form displayed by Dr. Ken in his videos.

So you are saying that these regular gymrat squats doesn't hurt your back at all?

What you brats should understand is that these examples are here because you should know that there is always the better way to do things. For example that spine - video which you linked: The message in that video is tell you that if you stress your spine wrong way, it get ill. It is quite stupid to think that proper form for squats make more damage, that that silly fucking wriggling that you call a squat. How about overloading a leg press, a hack squat for ego? No damage what so ever? We have great man to thank most of the back injuries in the gym, our hero, multiple Mr O Dorian Yates, who teach your blockheads to do bent over rows by standing straight up and yanking overloaded barbell up and down. Damages done by the squat are nothing compared to that  ;D
