Most are completely missing the point.
The political ideologies/laws of Islam (Sharia) are at COMPLETE odds with those of the west/non-Islamic nations. The Qu'ran states NO law, man-made or otherwise, can supersede that of God's (Allah's) law, Sharia. To do so renders one as not submitting to his rules and therefore an infidel ... and is to be put to death.
The Qu'ran also states a Muslim is justified in lying when it's to a non-Muslim in the promotion of Islamic interests.
In Islamic law, democracy is not tolerated. That a proclaimed Muslim presides on the bench of law in a democratic country is the height of contradiction.
It's plain insanity.
Her being allowed to be a judge in the US, and swear upon a holy book that demands its faithful reject most fundamental aspects of a free, secular and democratic country, is absolutely disgusting.
Does no one educate himself anymore, anywhere? Has our PC, tolerance horseshit reached such a state of compression that any concept of reason, logic and thoughtful consideration is immediately trounced in its endless pursuit?
But like I always say, this world is beyond fucked.
Your point is noted. However the standards this nation has set for itself are low, people(as individuals or a nation), in general, aren't forward thinking. Most live for the moment, tying to get the most out of whatever they can; as I'm sure thats how its always been for the most part.
Many can say anything and get away with it (as long as its not racist {as least for whites} or LGBT phobic).
When President Obama's pastor, Jeremiah Wright, made anti America comments (and he had other ridiculous comments, but I'm only referring what he said about about the country) from the pulpit, at one point proclaiming "God damn America", it obviously made all the news circuits.
When asked to defend his choice of church and the pastors comments President Obama's reply was that he only attended the church he didn't let it influence him (although he was a member of that church and was married by Reverend Wright).
The bottom line being that we don't really hold leaders/politicians/big business/et accountable, I'm assuming its because we dont really hold ourselves accountable.
*The president also said he considered Wright like a family member you don't agree with, which is fine BUT being a member of a social group means that you usually adhere to their beliefs and practices. If someone were a member of the KKK and said they went to the meetings for the social aspect and didn't condone racism, we would/should hold those people accountable. I know the comparison is extreme but I'm using it to illustrate my point.
