Kind of funny, just like anti gun freaks, rather than address the real problem they'd rather give up rights.

Part of me thinks this didn't happen, or at least didn't go down like you say because that's a ludicrous stance to have on her part. But, I remember a buddy of mine in college said he wouldn't mind having cameras in his house to video him if it cut down on crime rates. His answer, "I don't care because I don't break the law".This now leads me to believe the people you were quarreling with were either college age or recently removed from the college age/setting. She sounds like a bitch threatening to kick you out, and there's nothing in there about her husbands thoughts. He must be a beta. My advice, get some new friends, you have outgrown these people.

Actually, it did go down exactly like that.

No, she graduated college and has been working in a career for quite some time now. At least 10+ years out of college.

Well, it was her house, so she would just ask me to leave (i.e., I guess "unfriend" me). She couldn't physically throw me out. But, since it's her house, if she asked me to leave, I'd leave. I have no business being there if she doesn't want me there.

She could have if she wanted to right?

It sounds simple, of course we should have privacy. No censorship on internet either.

The thing is about finding the balance between surveillance on possible suspect groups (terrorists, kiddie porn rings whatever) and actual criminals. Blanket surveillance is stupid, and counter productive as there is too much white noise, but you do need targeted surveillance. How effective it is is questionable as IS etc are using very clever methods of avoiding detection online.

On a side note cctv's omnipresence pisses me off as much as it interferes more in my daily life. Fair enough in a shop to stop people stealing but go to the UK and you can't scratch your balls without ten cameras picking it up.

Never discuss politics with individuals that have vaginas between their legs.

This.

Or really, anyone. This world is eternally screwed, so what's the point? Just do your thing and laugh at the endless chaos and nonsense.

There are WAY too many people on this planet. With so many, all with differing viewpoints and values (and ethical integrity), how can any society even begin to come to a place of balance and peace?

Impossible.

Regarding this "friend", she sounds like a total emotional drain. Avoid her whenever possible.

Imagine how much she would flip out if she knew that you spend many hours a day defending radical islam?

Whats her take on Syrian refugees? I hope if she's willing to give up personal freedoms she is willing to take a stand against potential terrorists entering the country.

You should have also reminded her that the government is already doing these things illegally anyhow.

Sounds like you two don't really get along too well in general if you both get perturbed so easily.

I was actually quite calm. She was the one who got all pissed. I guess that is why they say to never discuss religion or politics with friends/family.  :D :D

She wants surveillance on america and wants to shut down a portion of the internet to control terrorism. She wants to take away the rights of law abiding internet users to a certain extent. I disagree. She totally flipped out!

i listened to a military vet analyst talking about the absurdity of trump saying "take away their internet".

1) bad guys having phones is awesome - allows us to trace their movement and map out their network of associates
2) impossible to stop internet connection when every phone for $30 at every gas station on the planet has data now.

Trump doesn't understand there's not just a pipeline/switch that goes to ISIStown that he can just turn off... and even if there was, he wouldn't WANT to switch it because it's near impossible to track the fckers if they return to couriers and word of mouth.

the good thing about the debates = Trump is showing more and more, than he's ignorant on many military strategies.  Rubio was looking like a fcking rocket scientist with his quick, concise answers.  Cruz knew the percentages and meta data.  Trump didn't know what the nuclear triad was, and wanted to turn off ISIS wifi.  Ass.

Your average voter, unfortunately, isn't a military vet analyst though...  :'(
