A Jewish mother is under attack after she successfully petitioned her child's public school to cancel their annual trip to visit Santa Claus.

The woman, whose name is Talia, has a daughter at Sartorette Elementary School in San Jose, California, did not want her to participate in a kindergarten field trip where the children write letters to Santa then go to deliver them, drink hot chocolate and sit on his lap.

She decided to write a four-page letter to the school committee, and now the decade-long tradition has been canceled by the principal and superintendent.

This move however has angered other parents, who staged a walkout on Friday with their children and took them to see Santa.

Thirty students were photographed walking away from the school alongside their parents who were wearing Santa hats.

I don't understand why the school just didn't take out any kids whose parents weren't ok with this trip but still took the kids who want to see Santa.

But isn't that what Santa believers do, shove their way of thinking down everybody's throats. I think that is what she is protesting, having others shove their views down our throats.

If the parents want to lie to their kids and make their children sit on some pedo's lap, then let them do it in their own time. Not to mention threatening kids to behave so they can receive presents. The whole tradition is perverse.

Some people just don't want to accept that Santa Claus isn't real. This is the sad consequence of deceiving children.

Santa in its current incarnation maybe. But the ideas behind the myth are much older than Coca-Cola.

Where do you get this stuff? I did you the honor of finding you a link showing the origins of Santa Claus. Coca-Cola was introduced in 1886 btw.
