Shaken baby snydrome sucks:

New Rochelle father charged with assaulting his infant son

(09/12/03) WHITE PLAINS - A New Rochelle father is charged with assaulting his infant son, who later died.

Police say Juan Morel, 21, claimed his 5-month-old son fell on Wednesday and that's why he and the baby's mother took the boy to Sound Shore Medical Center in New Rochelle. The hospital then notified police and after detectives questioned Morel, they concluded that the baby had been shaken. The baby died on Thursday after being put on life support.

Neighbors who live at 234 Drake Avenue say they always heard the couple fighting and the baby crying. One woman said she feels guilty for not reporting the fighting sooner.

Morel is now charged with assault and is being held at the Westchester County Jail.

Meanwhile, police are waiting for an autopsy report to determine the exact cause of death. The baby's mother has not been charged. The couple also has a 3-year-old daughter who is now in child protective services.

I have to force myself to eat just to maintain my already twinkish weight.

Hello. I am calling total horse cockery here. You lost 5lbs from not eating well one day? 5lbs = 2.3kg. Let us say it is 50% fat/25% water/25%muscle - that is 10,000 calories gone in a day. A deficit of 10k despite 2 meals.

Actually I lost 5 pounds in a day by eating only two meals. Obviously you've never cut weight for an athletic event. Losing ten pounds in one day is routine for a wrestler or MMA fighter.

I routinely lose five pounds just over night if even when I eat a meal right before bed. Obviously it mostly water.

Weigh yourself right before you go to bed without eating and then weigh yourself right when you get up after going to the bathroom. In fact, do this on a week or on your day off so you can sleep in. You will find that you will lose at least three pounds over night.

And then, just for fun, take a shower and weigh yourself again. You will have gained at least a pound by more likely two pounds.
