I'd say they dealt with a lot worse, before discussing (possible rape, separation from partners etc) other issues in their "jobs". I have nearly calloused my hands to point of holding burning metal with little pain. I'd say they could take burnt metal just fine. The smoke and no chimneys or vents might get you. Along with psychological damage.

Unusual hobby.  I met a dude who was into model trains the other day.  Fascinated by anything locomotive, he was.  Everyone's got their thing, I guess.

All kidding aside, I'm keeping an eye out for wrought furniture these days.  Great looking stuff when put right from it's usual rusty, neglected state. I've got blasting/spraying gear so restoring it would be quick and easy.

That's a curveball but my jerk response is they didn't live long or have access to foods that would cause cavities. No idea why that reply was posted but that's my guess. 30 year olds die with less health issues than 70 year olds.

I basically got molested from the neck up by an old man barber when I was 15.  He was being all tickley with the clippers.  Dude even went to work on my ears.  He was pretty good at it too.  I bet that harmless old fruit is long dead by now.  Hope some kid finally whipped out a big stiff one for him at some point, poor guy.  He sure liked his job.

In the south, with about 20% black population and a nearly equal poverty rate for that race, it's fairly common to have these experiences.

I decided to go to a town about 50 miles away for some antiques.  I pulled into a parking lot for a minute and within five minutes a black guy is standing at my window.  I roll it down and ask, "Can I help you". The first thing he says is, "Thank god for white people.  I am so glad you are a white man.  Blacks just don't wanna help"  He then gives me this bullshit story about needing 10 dollars for a fan belt that he is just that much short.  I then ask him where the car is located.  He says its on a tow truck at a shop.  I asked which shop.  He just mumbles something and says the one in town and that they are going to hold his car until they get 10 dollars and can he get 10 dollars.  I told him I would be willing to help if I could see the car first as it may be a simple fix.  He then changes the story and says the car in on the highway still.  I then told him there is nothing I can do and all I have on me is a debit card anyways.  He then starts asking me to look in my pockets because "you might had da money in yo pockets and don't know dat you do".  I said no and asked him to step away from my car.  He gave me a dirty look and stormed off.  I watched him in my mirror ask the next guy in a new Corvette.  Pathetic.


Second incident.  I stopped at a grocery store on my way out and was in the check out line and a mother and her son were in line in front of me and getting ready to leave.  I look at what they are buying.  Grape Soda, some microwave chicken meals.  Then the kid tries to put a handful of something on the belt but misses and everything in his hand falls to the floor.  I look down and its tons of packets of Kool-Aid, all different flavors.  I just smiled and thought, I oughta take a picture everytime I see something like this and that I should have videoed the guy from earlier.  Maybe next time. I swear it never fails.

Exactly,anything said not positive about blacks makes you racist even if true.ive driven down south many many times.I will say stories like this are very true.almost every time i stop at a gas station once past north carolina a black person either asks me for money for some car problem or tries to sell me fake gold jewelry.I will say this though,whenever i went to a restaurant down south if their were black people working they were usually very friendly with good manners,very weird.

Crazziest thing to happened to me was a when man walked up to me while leaving a bar telling me his sad story of how he needed a few bucks for gas for his car.. I told the guy I had no cash.. he then tells me the atm machines is a few blocks away and I should go get some cash.. I just looked at him with a wtf face and left him talking..
A couple of months later I bumped up to him again and he gave me the same sad story.. I smirked at him and asked if he new where the ATM machine was.. fucker just looked at me with a stare..

Its funny when you ask them basic direct questions how quickly the stories falls apart.

I've had this scam  tried on me a few times in in the city.  The last was an Indian guy in a suit who needed a "tire repair kit" from CVS for his car's flat tire.  I offered to go with him to buy the kit and help him with the car.  He got pissed off and left.

I get this problem quite a lot in London although it tends to be people of all races.

A common story they say is that they have a sick relative in hospital and they need money for a bus fare. The ironic thing is that if they just told me the truth and that they really just need money for some more meth, I'd probably respect their honesty and give them some cash.
