They get tested once, or twice a year with the standard 5 panel drug test that most employers use. Their commanding officer(s) may request additional tests, like for steroids, etc.... In practice, it rarely happens unless a person isn't well liked or making a fool of themselves. The steroid tests are sent to the UCLA lab that does some of the Olympic WADA testing, and cost extra in time and money too.

I went to the US Military Academy and they were easy to obtain (and legal back then). Look how many jacked military guys you see and police and fire for that matter. Kuclo is a fire/rescue guy walking around at 260-300.
