One last thing, I checked the old rec.martial-arts archive to see if anyone mentioned him, this is the only thing they had. This was a huge group in the old days of news groups -

"Who in the world is Mike O'Hearn? California Judo Championships
doesn't mean much. CJI puts them on annually, but usually it's just
another local tournament (state is too big to travel to these, we got
LOTS of tournaments here...). He never made it to the trials. He
never won a national tournament. Where was he supposed to be
training. I can say, with certainty, that he has not won a
significant tournament in the past 5 years. Before that, I'd have to
check back at the records...
