I like Fedor but I honestly think he's afraid to fight in the UFC.

I hate to agree. But... you are probably right. Basically, he doesn't want to lose again.

And the UFC heavyweight division is weak right now too

He's done. Has been for a while. Lost against 190 lbs Hendo... And his fight against Bigfoot he was completely steamrolled.

Hes just trying to make some money out of the japanese promotions right now.

That said, I'll still watch it. Big Fedor fan.

Huge Fedor fan but can't defend this man anymore from a fan point of view. Wanting to ''fight only the best'' then ending with a 2-0 Indian Kickboxer for your comeback.

For a single athlete with Fedor's star power there is money to be made in the ufc. That reebok, ppv %, EA sports money. He could rake in millions.

fedor makes more money on his own than he ever will with UFC and he has his freedom.

too bad UFC fighters are to stupid to realize there is more money being an independent contractor than an employee

I hope Fedor comes out to his old pride music / intro theme
Best entrance ever.. not quite sure why he got rid of it when he fought in affliction and strike force..  :-\

In his prime Fedor could have beaten Pudzianowski or even Coleman.

I like Fedor but I honestly think he's afraid to fight in the UFC.

Fedor doesn't need the UFC.  His legacy was cemented in the sport long ago.  I also don't believe he is afraid of the competition in the UFC.  Fedor is one of the most mentally strong and prepared athletes around.  He has the utmost confidence.  So much so, that he competes on his own terms and isn't reliant on the fallacy that one must compete in the UFC only.  That myth has been propagated by Dana White.  It is good for the sport to have a name as prominent as Fedor's compete for a rival, as it spawns greater competition and opportunities in the sport as a whole, instead of there only being one game in town.

However, I'm puzzled at his choice of opponent.  If Fedor beats a relative unknown, it's to be expected and does little to add to his legacy.  If he were to lose, it will all but cement his retirement on a sour note, even if the pay day is huge.  Perhaps they are priming him for a bigger fight down the road after this, considering he's been retired for several years.

His brother has Russian Mob tats on his body. A "Vor" or "Thieves inLaw" is what they indicate. That doesn't necessarily mean Fedor is alligned with them but it is not outside the realm of possibility. You can use your imagination. Yes, he might be involved with some serious people.

He is a shot fighter and should be out to stud.  It's sad when you see any champion in the fights go on for two long. It happens to them all. They still have the fighters heart but their body isn't on the same page. Only Rocky Marciano knew he should retire and he stayed retired. Look at all the boxing, wrestling, and mma fighters who had to have a string of loses to convince their ego it's over. They will put Fedor with a chump and then he will think he is back in the game only to get destroyed by a current fighter.

+1

He is too small to fight today's heavies at 225-235 soft lbs. He is far more talented, but just gets steamrolled by the 270-285 lb monsters.

He is still the greatest, but it's time for him to walk away.

Fedor is Putin's favorite sportsman. He is involved with some serious people but its not the "Вор в законе", its the Kremlin.

By "involved", he was offered a job by Putin to travel around Russia promoting MMA.

Mir is an enigma. His weight has gone up the past few years. But he is adding bodyfat (not muscle).

I don't know how a person can train MMA full time and be fat.

He is very good at what he does, so I'm not knocking him.

effects of going off "trt" having low natural test production...

I Believe UFC doesn't even allow TRT now. Look at the last fight with Overeem vs Dos Santos. Both of them looked shrunked down from before. Less muscle and more fat.

Overeem & Dos Santos & Mir are all on their way down. They just don't fight as impressively as they did back in 2009-2012

Hope Fedor wins this fight and seriously considers retirement afterwards. Jaideep is considered a sacrificial lamb, but he KO'ed Sergei Kharitonov and is somewhat in shape so it could be a dangerous fight standing for Fedor. Fedor beat 2 corpses in Monson and Rizzo and has lost a lot of his speed and reflexes.

Joe Calzaghe as well.
