well, on my first visit to Auschwitz (in '98) my Polish girlfriend took me there.  :o
she grew up in a town that was a day-trip away.

15 years later, I returned with my latina wife and I noticed a big difference in the whole organized tourism and security aspect of it.

I live in Celle which is 24 km from Belsen. I spent 4 years as a soldier in Hohne Bergen /Belsen. We had round building in the Camp we called "the round house" which had shops in it and things..was the old SS Officers mess i believe. Belsen was right next to us. The Rail sidings were still there where they brought the Prisoners and we used them to load up our Guns when going on exercise in diffrent parts of Germany.

A photo i took a few months ago when driving past.. Angies Bar a whore House right across from Hohne camp ;) Remember it was Dark and dingy with porn always playing via Video behind the Bar  ;D
