I said this back in mid-october, when carson (leading the polls at that point) took 6 weeks off campaigning for a book tour, instead of using his $ to build iowa infrastructure.   it's just like huck a while back - in it to make $ and collect names for speeches and endorsements.  240 called this.  Actually RUSH did too.  Repubs were too stupid to listen to it though.

Tough to argue all the points made here.   Carson is keeping the $ - he's not building ANYTHING.  And his team all resigning on the 1st of the year makes it look even more suspicious.

Ben Carson’s grand political experiment is just about over. He’s plummeting in the polls and he’s all but finished in the Republican presidential race. He had a good run, though. For a man with no political knowledge or experience or ideas, he fared remarkably well. At one point, Carson was considered a frontrunner, trailing only Donald Trump. Now he’s a distant fourth place, well behind Trump, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio.

Don’t feel sorry for the good doctor, however. His campaign is only a failure if you assume his goal was to become president of the United States. But if you’ve followed Carson’s career for more than a few months, you know he’s more of an entrepreneur than a politician. And so his campaign has to be judged in that context.

ADVERTISING

As an entrepreneur, Carson has succeeded wildly. According to a new AP report, the doctor has been cashing in on the campaign trail, promoting his brand and giving paid speeches wherever he can:

“All of this is part of a well-honed enterprise that promotes Ben Carson – presidential candidate, political commentator, paid speaker, author, neurosurgeon and champion of children, reading, and God. He has folded into Carson Enterprises his presidential campaign, which has excelled at fundraising, brining in almost $32 million through the end of September …That fundraising prowess continues, even as his poll numbers decline. His campaign manager, Barry Bennett, said Thursday they raised about $20 million since the beginning of October…Speaking fees over a nearly two-year period raked in $4.3 million. And his nonprofit continues to raise money.”

It’s important not to see Carson’s private financial gains as tangential to his campaign. It’s not as though he set out to run for president and happened to profit enormously as a result. On the contrary, his campaign was itself an entrepreneurial venture. Since announcing his candidacy, Carson has paraded around the country, selling books and giving paid speeches at charity events, corporate meetings, and various other organizations.

As the AP report notes, Carson’s book tour website “links to his official campaign website…and Carson’s book sales benefit significantly from his political rise. Since he declared his candidacy, more than 52,000 copies of versions of his signature book, ‘Gifted Hands,’ have sold.”

As much as it pains me to say this, in my opinion, you've been fairly accurate on this guy all along.  I still think you are a bit too obsessed with him because he looks like the guy that slapped you in the face and stole your manhood, but i gotta give credit where its due, you nailed this one in my eyes.

that means a lot, thank you.  (it was a skinny kid that swiped me at the mall in front of chess king... didn't look like carson at all)

yeah, carson is a book salesman.  And to that rabid lowest 20% of the republican base, he's just a victim of the mainstream media, he tried so hard to be president.  He was smart enough and prepared and he wanted it, but the libs ruined him.

Carson sails into the sunset with a shitload of $, and millions of names/addresses for future business efforts.  He'll give speeches to rabid zealots at private religious institutions for $100k a day and years from now, repubs will still call him the biggest winner of the 2016 campaign.

He didn't bother doing anything to build a prez run... just screamed his way to the top of the polls, quietly stopped campaigning on Oct 1 and let his staff go on Jan 1st.   Quite convenient to wrap up all those quarterly filings, huh?  ;) ;) ;)  Dude didn't even bother to make it look unintentional.  He'll probably wait until the last day of March to withdraw so his BUSINESS MANAGER Jason armstrong (yes, he has a biz manager, not a campaign manager) can wrap things up witha  bow for those filing deadlines ;)   Carson was so obvious about it.   Now, wait until repubs realize I was right about Trump's job being to ensure a hilary presidency...

The mid-level staffers are following the top staff out the door.  Campaign HQ is gonna look pretty empty come monday.

Boom.  Carson loses iowa.  He doesn't go to nh, though.

No, he's going back to Florida to rest, recover, and "get some clothes"

He played this campaign game til oct.  Then he sold books until iowa.  Now he is back to sunny Florida to laugh at all of those who believed he was actually running.

there is truth to this. analysis of his campaign finance structure/strategy have been very telling.

im 85% sure he is running just to raise his profile/sell books/make money and does not actually give a rats ass if he doesn't 'win'

cruz campaign re-tweeted Carson's plan to take a week off, attend washington prayer breakfast, THEN head to new hampshire.

every other candidate is in NH, TODAY.

Carson is obviously in it to sell books.  It's sad that liberals on getbig knew it in october.

He knows that, he's a brain surgeon.  He knew that the GOP would never put up a black candidate so he just cashed in

yes, they are so racist that the black guy has been in the top tier the entire cycle, and they just voted the first Hispanic American to ever win a state in a presidential contest, the same Hispanic guy who is the undisputed leader of the Tea Party, and one of two Hispanic guys will probably be the nominee, a historic first.

that's gotta just burn you dems.

Hey guys...

Trump is now doing the same things Carson did.

Intentionally under-raising money (not even calling donor list the RNC gave him).
Intentionally not building nat'l infrastructure (leaving battleground states alone).
Intentionally not buying airtime (now is the time!)
Now his campaign manager is booted (escorted out of the building) for suggesting he release VP name.

Guys, the signs are all there.

That ended up being the case.  Exactly the case.

Now, the Q becomes... Is trump also using the presidential race to grow his business and media brand?
