I agree, that's why I didn't post a "CrossFit box".
You don't "teach" cross fit?

Coaches gym looks like a good garage gym. Why don't the members just have their own garage gym?

I have a really good set up in my roughly 1400 sq foot basement with 9' ceilings. Last year my wife got me a 3 month membership to one of these show case gyms complete with an indoor swimming pool and maybe 30 treadmills. It was a great change from the basement. Women wearing panty hose type yoga pants were a constant welcome distraction. Steroid guys filled the place. Now for Christmas the wife gave me a membership to a dungeon type gym. Completely hard core. Sadly the women there don't dress like strippers there. Getting some great workouts.  I don't know how he makes money because at 9AM there are only about 4 people training there. He has every thing that you need for a great workout. Just hate that half of the dumbbells have no indication of the weight on them. Really nice staff there too.

This is the time of the year owning my own gym is so nice. The new members are nice but I can totally control the flow of new members and I'm upfront on if I think someone will fit in our atmosphere. I've sold  two memberships since last week and I'm ok with that.

Your gym looks awesome.

My last piece of my home gym is near complete - picked up ironmaster adjustable DB off craigslist....need to sell the bowlfex 10/90s along with my 100/110s now.

In two weeks, you'll be able to finally walk around in the gym again.

Good luck man.

I can safely rely on the laziness and pessimism of Irish people to change habits that the gym will be less than 10% busier this week. It was fairly empty tonight but I figure most newbies will say "It starts Monday..." - then possibly say "fuck it I'm just back to work and have a bit of a hangover, let's start Tuesday...".

By Friday they will just say fuck this.

Most gyms have peak times somewhere between 5PM-9PM There's not much stress when I train @9PM
Anyway, since your names suggests that you're from Texas. Have you've ever visited Destination Dallas? That place is huge.

BINGO!  that's the deal.

I joined a 24/7 chain to train at any hour and always get a workout on my own terms now.

I plan on going tonight around 9 or 10, hope it's not crowded.

I hate crowds in general but even worse when the weights and equipment I want is being used.

If you really want a machine/equipment (and someone doesnt have 5 plates or so on bar and you wanna warm up) i just say "im working in". If id have to move a lot of weights fuck it i will change exercises. I train peak time.

Now that I know THAT, I'll be sure to fart and sweat on any machine right before you use it. :D

I hate my new gym, I think I'll be working out in the basement before next year at this rate. How can you call yourself a gym when you don't allow chalk and blast that shitty pop music?

I'm not crazy about my gym but it's less than a mile from my house and is 24hr which accommodates my hectic schedule. Would be an ok gym but way too many Russians, especially young ones who linger all day taking selfies and smelling very strongly of cheap cologne.

I swear every time I leave there I have tinnitus because I have to tune out their music with mine.

All crossfitters should send to North Korea where our good friend Kim Jung Bob takes 'care' of them.

BINGO!  that's the deal.

I joined a 24/7 chain to train at any hour and always get a workout on my own terms now.

Congratulations with your new year's resolution, I hope you make incredible gains and meet your 10th future wife @ the smoothie bar.

I never understood how people are affected by the atmosphere of a gym. ??? I've trained in all different types of gyms. In really fancy gyms, to absolute shit holes. I've gotten in good workouts in each type of atmosphere. I don't know, the whole "hardcore" atmosphere doesn't really matter. Weights are weights. As long as you bring good knowledge and train intensely, your body doesn't care. I think this whole notion of gym atmosphere is hyped up to an extent. You can get a good workout in no matter where you go.

My home gym has the same amount of dedicated members: 3. Although my son appears to be "deloading" and doing nothing. I got a glorious 2 hour (yes, TWO HOURS) workout on NY day and only got kicked out by my gym-monopolizing wife. For reference, the benefits of a home gym:

- train shirtless and shoeless
- minimal commute
- your music on the loudspeakers
- ESPN on the TV
- nobody says "are you on that?"
- curl in the squat rack
- funky equipment that most people don't know how to use
- some gym equipment is great for athletic sex
- drop the DBs if you want to
- there's only one douchebag on his iPhone, and he's in the mirror, checking out Getbig
- the only dues are sweat, pain and the straight-line depreciation of capital expenses
