To be fair, there are numerous airport police that have guns and there are numerous ones that do not.

The ones that do not are told to stay safe if there is an active shooter situation.

This is not completely unheard of and I have worked in this environment before. It has a lot to do with what the Airport (being a private entity) says is viable in regards to their police staff.

It's not really that big a deal.

Let him be. He's trolling. If an airport of all places is stupid enough to keep their law enforcement from having weapons and they still go to work, then it's on them. Those are probably the same cities that condem cops.

any my point is... who gives a shit how they do it elsewhere? 

do you feel the country should abandon how they voted for things... and just do things how YOU want it?

I'm a small govt conservative - I believe in letting the states decide how to do things.  I don't want some bureaucrat in washington telling me how to do things.

I too was upset when I read the headline. Then I read the source and was suspicious. So I went to a less right wing biased source and was happy to discover there are almost 300 armed police officers and these unarmed security officers are just a tier in the security level, not the security level itself. Unarmed vs Armed has a lot to do with salary as well.

It would be kinda hard to believe that a major hub wouldn't have armed security but Chicago has ridiculous gun laws so I guess anything is possible.

I don't know that a large portion of the base hates my profession. But I find it difficult to vote for either party for different reasons. I don't like the spending on social programs without checks and balances the Democrats tend to push. I don't like the spending on unnecessary wars/conflicts and the push of religious morality on me that the Republicans tend to push. I'm for smaller government and responsible spending, something neither party is really interested in at the moment
