i'm a huge manning fan... but yeah, IMO, he's been showing signs of use for years.  The shit going wrong with his neck seemed to fit perfectly with that.  Hvaing his greatest season yet, age 37-38 after a career ending injury?  And yes, it's not just baldness... look at the head change (think barry bonds, think dwayne wade)
