Won a new computer ---

Spent NYE at a fund raiser for the Humane Society and one of the raffle prizes was a new computer.  HP Envy 34 All In One.  Very beautiful curved screen and some nice specs (12gb DD4, 1T hard drive).

Unfortunately the rest of the design is for shit.  There is no CD ROM / DVD drive at all.  You have purchase an external one to use.  All the USB (3.0 and 2.0) are located directly in the back which is going to be hard to use since I have always wall mounted all my AIO pcs so far.

Have not plugged it in to try it yet, but not a fan of it so far.

BB related - 34" is approximately .80 Heath's wide.

Welcome to the age of downloading movies online, i.e., CDs and dvds are becoming obsolete.

Since you won it, you can buy that external dvd reader

I agree, I download as much as anyone but if I had a choice I'd want a cd/dvd rom forbackward compabilitys sake

News flash...most all computers today don't have a CD ROM/DVD drive. Inaccessible USB ports is a design flaw for sure.

I keep my getbig jpg's on floppy disks and have a separate copy in my grandma's safety deposit box.

Just buy a USB hub and a small USB extension cable.

Problem solved.

I never use the USB ports on anything, I always extend them out so I can have them close to the keyboard.

Or buy a Keyboard that has USB ports on it as well.

Either will work.

Damn.  Was unaware of this.  For real?  I assume they transmit by blue tooth (wireless).  Are they fast?

I've seen cabled ones with ports, not sure about bluetooth.

New Bluetooth 4.1 or whatever is hella fast though.

I haven't burned a CD at least for 5 years. Where do you live, Buttfuck, Nebraska? Do you take 1 megapixel photos?

same here would never buy a computer without a dvd reader when i give all my customers a dvd with the photographs...but it was free so just say thanks  and sell it or buy a external dvdplayer/burner
