Nerve issues. trapped or impinged nerve
« on: January 06, 2016, 04:48:11 PM »
So iv been having shoulder, arm, scapular and pec issues - weakness, fatigue, lactic acid burn and not being able to get a good contraction in the effected muscles. Had the issue for a little under a year now!

So iv been sent for an MRI scan as my physio things I may have a trapped nerve in my neck that is causing the issues. The physio said all my muscles are working fine individually just may be nerve issue. So I'm guessing it may be impinged or trapped in my neck!

Anyone experienced anything like this? Kind of worried that I'll never recover :(
MRI scan is this Sunday (10/1/16) and my checkup / results are on the 19th of the same month (january)  ill keep this thread updated on how I get on!
If you have experienced anything like this let me know how you got on?

Realized that my results are on 29th of January not the 19th* as i said in the previous post.

Will keep thread updated on my progress.

I'm still fighting a neck problem myself. Was told after my scan by 2 Doctors i should be operated on...C6/7 but i am slowly regaining strength in my right tricep. still feel my lower right neck but it's much better than before because i went through a series of injections. left thumb was sore but now is just slightly numb... my right hand, two middle fingers are not hurting so much either.. just slightly numb on the back of my right hand. Shit happens... just gotta take it like a Man.. 8)

I did a fair bit of Physio in conjunction with injections of cortisone ( Lipotalon, Solu Decortin). these helped a lot. My last scan was in April 2015 and i have another next week to see how it looks. they wanted to operate but i never did it. I just use Laterals for shoulders and shrugs. In the beginning presses hurt and i had no strength because of the pressure on nerves. You have to see what causes minimum impingement and pain because if the nerves are constantly pressed it can cause permanent damage. This is not Bro science but from two specialists.

Will be interesting to see the scan results.

I would guess it's nerve impingement or damage.
Hopefully rectifiable.

Have had a trapped nerve on occasion, thankfully have managed to do
a lot of stretching exercises which eased & released them.

I know but make sure you look into the (if you can) the quality of the work of the Hospital and surgeon. Here a lot of Doctors have their own surgery for Operations but mainly for say Knee operations and such. there are Hospitals and clinics that are known here for good surgery and the Doctor i was seeing worked in one in Hannover. He refers his patients always to this clinic, not just for money but they are known to be very good.

Hmm not sure if there is any way I can ask to see a better surgeon. I'll talk to my physio who will be referring me about my concerns and see what she mentions, thats even if i need surgery. Theres a chance i may not have any nerve issues at all or the MRI didnt pick any problems up. just have to wait and see! But ill know tomorrow! If i have time before work ill post on here to let you know how it went!

 >:( So, I have just got back from the hospital. MRI Results haven't picked any trapped or impinged nerves up (not sure whether or not I should be happy about this). So... Next up is a nerve test were they test the nerves in and around my arm/shoulder/chest to see whether they are firing correctly. HOPFULLY this picks some issues up so the physio/docs have something to work with. If this nerve test fails i am off to get a vascular referral from my doc which will obviously check if there is any vascular/blood flow issues that is causing this pain/weakness.
If this nerve & Vascular test fails it is a case of trying to manage the issue. Kind of made me a bit depressed what if i cant manage it and workout? Im going to do everything I can to be able to hit the gym again! just hope the next test picks things up....

This is where i currently stand. - MRI = No visible nerve issues. Up next is a nerve test, the physio said they wouldn't expect anything to come back that raises concerns with nerve issues, so it is probably not nerve issues they told me.

Could just be a case of trying to manage symptoms with physio etc, will just have to wait and see if nerve test picks anything up or vascular tests do.

shouldn't they have done the nerve test before the MRI? MRI's are not cheap...

I'm starting to wonder if 90% of the issues is because of tendinitis. Anyone have good knowledge of tendinitis? / I have had these issues for a little under 1 year now

I get tendonitis in my forearms if I try to use a straight bar rather than cambered on curls...took 3 months for a flare-up to go away when I was 23.

this may sound really wierd but it has helped me .

Have your significant other place there elbows on both of your traps at the same time and have her gradually increase the downward pressure till almost where you can not stand the pain, its sort of like a good pain but definitely hurts.  There must be some pressure release points around the area because after this is done to me correstly my whole neck/ trapezius area seams to be completely relaxed. feels very nice actually.

I have had many many neck/ trap kinks, pulls, strains etc and this helps extremely well

I will try this thanks for the advice!! Have you ever experienced weakness in your arm from trap issues?
