Biggest scam part III
« on: January 18, 2016, 07:48:34 AM »
To follow up on previous scam theads regarding

1) alimony
2) inviting adults to children's bday parties

A huge scam that a lot of us have to contend with is people at work getting unfair advantages just for having kids. First they get to use fmla and take 3 months off just because the brat is born. Then they are always taking days off and leaving early because the kid is sick, has a school play or some type of appointment. And the ever present excuse of "I had childcare issues" when they can't make it to work. I won't even go into how some companies provide day care benefits.

I'm not against children and families rather just pointing out how the rest of us work hard year round and show up to work while parents get to use the excuse of their children to fuck around without being punished.

When my children were little some of my co-workers with grown up kids would pick up the holiday schedule as they knew it was a very important time to spend with the wee ones.

I do that now.

I have never been the best at either being a father or husband but there is nothing wrong in trying to be.  Now I am pretty much a DTM.

Dad Teller Machine.   ;D

Children - They don't "complete" you. You made them and its your responsibility to complete them.

this is soooooooooooo true in the work place, always leaving early or arriving late due to things at school, dr appointments the list goes on and on.

In my career someone has to cover the holidays and the family people always say well I got kids so I obviously can not cover. The feel automoatically free pass on a lot of excuses.

X1000. At least give us that pick up the slack some extra money.

They think they are entitled to time off just because of the kids.

The issue is that people need to have kids to continue the species. Further, people need to raise GOOD kids, so the species continues in a productive, efficient manner. Part of being a good parent is addressing school and medical concerns, so your kids have the best chance of turning out to be good citizens, which then has a direct impact on society-at-large. Jobs know this when they hire people with children. You can't expect to hire someone with children, but never expect them to have to leave early to get their sick child or take their child to the hospital in case of emergency. Thus, in order to raise good children, not only do the parents have to do their job, but the other systems involved--directly or indirectly--in the child's life have to recognize the  important job of parents. This is why most jobs will have some leeway for parents with children. Notice I said "SOME" leeway.

However, I only grant this lenience in case of school, medical, or other emergencies regarding the children. Making person X work every holiday because he/she doesn't have children, and allowing person Y off every holiday because he/she has children, is wrong. This is obviously ridiculous because a person can have no kids, but still have family and friends that they want to see for the holiday. They should alternate holiday vacations.

I'm pro family (traditional family) but I just don't see why the workplace allows these people to get away with murder. Someone at work just decided they want to go part time to spend more time with their kids and the company is allowing it! If I was the boss I would say sure go spend more time with your kids but don't expect to work here at all. What if I wanted to go part time to spend more time fishing or golfing?

Yes that's all fine and dandy but why is it my problem or the employers problem? If people want to have kids they should be willing to pay the price. The rest of us constantly get left picking up the slack. What about those of us with elderly parents? We don't get all this adjustments to take of them, I know I dont.

Also what about people who don't want to have children, or that are unable, or are gay and can't reproduce because their partner is the same sex.

From a realistic side, a large percentage of people have kids. You can't expect companies to hire only single people. I don't even think there would be enough people in the workforce if you only hired single people. Furthermore, if you only hire single people, then people with spouses and kids won't be able to find job, and will have to go on welfare. Then you will be bitching that they are on welfare. On the other hand, people need to keep having kids to keep the species going. Can't have it both ways.

With that said, there is an expectation that parents, to a certain degree, to need to be there for their children. That's how society works. So, if a mom is at work, and her kid gets hit by a car, the expectation is that the parent will be allowed to leave work. In the same way that I was allowed to leave work when my mom had surgery. Now, most of the parents I have worked with only leave during dire emergencies. And as I said previously, if we want to raise healthy and happy kids, that includes parents being there during medical emergencies. Its part of the way it is. Its part of the way society keeps running effectively. In that sense, people are granted certain privileges. You've always said that things should not always be equal. So, clearly they aren't, since these people have kids and are granted some leeway. Unless you think people should just stop having kids.  ??? ??? ???
