I live in New Zealand and this year do not have a friend to help me. Does anyone do their own tan - from the pro-tan to the dream-tan? Any helpful hints please ladies? 
I do my own tan with Pro-Tan. If the show is on Saturday morning I start appying tan Thursday morning. I do not shower in between, so wear dark clothes you do not mind getting dirty. It will wash out in the washing machine, but you can't guarentee it will all come out.
Start with your shins and calves and work your way up a bodypart at a time. Start by squirting three or four times onto the sponge applicator. Make a line from your ankle to your knee then use short strokes going left and right to widen out that line and smooth out the Pro-Tan. Spray three or four more times onto the applicator and make another line next to the first one on the inside of your calf from your anklel to your knee and then widen it out by using short strokes going left and right. Go all the way around your calf. Then do the other calf. then do each thigh, kick your foot up on the counter to get the back of your thigh or have a friend help. Do your tummy, then your chest, then each arm, have a friend do your back and your butt unless you are flexible and can reach back there. I've also heard of girls taping the applicator to a longer stick to do their own backs!!!
Tip: do your feet, ankles, knees, elbows, and the tops of your hands at the end when the brush is dry. Don't put any on your face. Wait till the morning of the show and pour your make-up foundation into a dish and squirt a little Pro-tan into the dish and mix. Your face will darken enough within a couple hours.
