As a nation, our infrastructure is horribly outdated and vulnerable.
If a President, and the Federal Government can get along well enough to focus on the rebuilding of infrastructure and securing our borders (which will be new infrastructure), there will be a virtual explosion in the workforce.
Typically, I am not a fan of more government workers and government contractors, but this is a necessary evil.
However, when one sees that it costs $2 million to build a mile of road in New Jersey, then we have to scrutinize the numbers and limit union influence on the final costs.
If a common sense approach to the revitalization/rebuilding/building of infrastructure in our nation, we will prosper. Further, taxpayers typically do not mind paying taxes for tangible items that they see/use every day, like well paved roads. The flip side to that is when the taxpayer is heavily burdened, and the roads don't get plowed in his/her high taxpaying neighborhood (but the "downtown" section does), the roads don't get paved in his/her neighborhood, yet a new feelgood tax is introduced to "aid" a population that has multiple sources of taxpayer funded programs.
