Fantasy Restaurants
« on: February 02, 2016, 05:50:07 PM »
Almost everyone I know has a dream somewhere in the back of their mind of opening a restaurant. I'm no exception, but it is obvious that operating a successful restaurant is one of the most stressful, grueling jobs there is.

There's a restaurant in NYC that fascinates me. It's a dumpling place on 14th street that is always crowded.  I used to eat there when I was in college all the time and have rediscovered it in the last few weeks.

It is dirt cheap and the food is pretty good for the price. It has a sparse menu and is incredibly efficient. Most of the time you can get your order within five minutes, but people will eagerly wait up to 20 minutes for takeout when it's EXTREMELY busy.

That's my dream scenario for a restaurant: a sparse, inexpensive menu done really well with a good word-of-mouth reputation. If I was going to open a restaurant today, I'd probably do a dumpling/noodle shop with 3 types of dumplings and a few different toppings for noodles.

Any getbiggers have dreams of opening a restaurant? If you don't want to open a restaurant, is there any kind of restaurant that you wish existed?

You don't need a restaurant when your skills are at the top.

Everyone enjoys going to restaurants. Even the top chefs in the world.

I've thought about opening a restaurant called Fat Bastards

I'd hire a heavy entrepreneur/manager to run the place

Used to and was seriously looking into it but then my wife said that she wouldn't want to work in the industry for that long (she has been doing it for awhile now) so never went through with it.

I've always had a fascination with places that have specialties.
Bread, Bagels, Cookies, Cupcakes, Donuts, Ice Cream,  etc.

I'd never want to own a restaurant but if I could purchase an In'n'Out, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I've never seen one that wasn't packed.

But it ain't a franchise and there is only one owner of the whole damn company.

I understand that she's a young lady who inherited it from her brother when he passed away, who inherited from his father when he passed away.

Each of whom passed away at pretty young ages.

Goes to prove that hamburgers ain't too healthy.

I remember the one off Commerical Blvd as a kid. I'm just glad Char Hut came back after leaving that area.

Combine restaurant with whorehouse and you have a million dollar idea. Meals enjoyed while getting your pipes cleaned (or twat licked) by a professional.

Cool topic Al.

I never wanted to actually own ( or run ) the joint, but one of my big , current interests is dinning out.
Sometimes my wife and I will focus on finding the ideal type of place for a certain food.
Recently it was Chinese. I'm a fool for Gen Zoas's chicken and she's really into Egg Drop soup.
