Long time lurker (10+ years) and occasional poster. I come here for the commentary and occasional laughs as we all know Getbig isn't as funny as the golden era of 2004-2009. I'm just wondering if the veterans can fill me in on a couple things.

1. Why so many threads and deep discussions on the height of Johnny Bodybuilder? What's with the height thing? What is to gain as far as understanding goes? Is it to compare them to you -the reader- and to try to dissect the amount of muscle per height ratio? What's the obsession about?

2. Why do people still post pics of and discuss Steve Reeves? How do people consider him "great"? He had the average build of a common gym rat in AnyGym USA. Why do Getbiggers still hold his nuts? What's with the Steve Reeves obsession?

Regarding question 1, getbiggers are obsessed with a few things:

1)weight
2) height
3) politics
4) religion
5) g4p
6) drugs
7) a calorie is just a calorie
8 ) racism

Noticed how I never mentioned anything about the actual lifting of weights.

In over 10 years creeping getbig it's always countless threads about a bodybuilders height. Also. The Steve Reeves thing is weirdd. Dude lifted weights 50 years ago and for some reason he's some sort of star. What I do know is this site has never been the same. Once a proud powerful forum now a shell of its former greatness. It's sad.

1. it is generally harder to look jacked the bigger you are. And you need more amount of muscle to look about the the same size-wise as a smaller guy. Also bench press, etc. is harder.
2. Steve Reeves had a ideal physique and promoted drug free bodybuilding.

That doesnt explain much but thanks anyway.

Steve Reeves lifted 60 years ago. I dont see the infatuation with him. His physique is no different than the guy at All American Family Fitness center in the local mini mall with the backwards cap and bottle of pre-workout.

You might be too young for this... but Steve Reeves inspired MANY of our "Champs" (Arnold, Zane, etc...) to lift in the first place...
He made many Hercules movies!

Reeves looks better than modern bodybuilders and he was an actor. Thus, he is still liked.

I believe the explanation of the bold part is very simple, you're on the G&O section. There are many interesting training threads in the Training section, esp the sticky ones. Most activity however, is on this section.
