That dosen't mean shit. The big guy could have used his only advantage, weight and smashed him against the corner and not let him out.

Wow, a boxer excelled at boxing. I imagine the weightlifter would excel at weight lifting.  I also suspect the outcome would be entirely different in a street fight that didn't restrict holds and require breaks.

there is actually a documentary about the  the weighlifter, it is called strongman.

guy has done ok for himself.

if he knew some wrestling or grapping he could hurt the  boxer for sure.

He was not too bad at keeping his guard up but what long 2 min. Was still hoping he's destroy the skinny dude.

The big guy has nothing to gain in any way by doing that. Say he won, people would say "yeah but that wasen't fair, he's so much bigger..."

Eddie Hall has quite a bit of experience in boxing, just at a basic level. He's trained and sparred for years, and had amateur bouts too. Fact is, he's just not very good at it, and he isn't built for the sport, nor trains specifically for it either.
What you're seeing here is just the gulf that exists between different levels. Scott Lawton was a professional; not a particularly great one but a respectable boxer with years and years of experience. He wasn't even sparring hard here and could have really put a beating on Eddie if he wanted to. All the "yeah but if it was a street-fight" talk is bullshit too. It would be over even quicker if both agreed to fight with no rules.
Are you sure Lawton has the KO skills to finish Hall with his first punch? Because against the 4th strongest man in the world (not just gym strong, but mobile and explosive) that is all the chance he will get.

Nonsense. One guy dedicates himself to picking up heavy objects and putting them back down, the other guy is a professional fighter who dedicates himself to the art of hitting and not getting hit. Every advantage that the boxer has inside the ring, he also has outside of the ring too, except he also has the advantage of not being constrained by Queensbury rules. His footwork, timing and reflexes mean that he'd have smacked him a dozen times before Eddie even got close to him, and he also has the advantage of not being an inanimate object if he ends up getting grabbed. Why wouldn't he bite, gouge and knee just like every other man would?

You guys seem to think that a boxer would be like a fish out of water outside of the ring. Most these guys got into boxing because they were always in street fights when they were younger anyway, and they've spent years in the gym fighting most days a week, enduring punches and dishing them out in return. The only exceptions in this fantasy scenario would be copious amounts of alcohol and/or if Eddie decided to attack him without warning.

Exactly. A lot of the blokes I trained with in boxing gyms were no stranger to GBH charges.

You are missing that fighting is not only about stand up striking. If the big guy tried a take down with some choke or G&P, it would have been over pretty quickly.

Exactly. Sure, Lawson can survive by keeping his distance (running away), but he cannot go to-to-toe in a no-holds barred fight in a confined area with someone this strong and heavy. And again: mobile. This is not some puffed-up BBer training to pose in thongs and suck dick, this is one of the strongest men on earth who specifically trains to be mobile and explosive. With his grip strength, all that Hall needs to do is get one hand on Lawson and it is over. Not by a clean KO, probably Hall cannot punch for shit, but someone who holds the DL WR and is close to the log press WR can probably finish a fight somehow. Think Hoost vs Sapp, but with Hoost being 40 Lbs lighter and Sapp 40 Lbs heavier and a lot stronger.

most street fights end up in a grappling match

also if you look on youtube at boxers getting involved in scuffles at weigh inns etc

it always ends up as a wrestling match

people only fight like that when the rules are you can only punch

cant overcome human instinct

The big man would have been destroyed by a 155lbs UFC fighter even if it went to the ground.

A pro boxer can't win on the ground, so now he magically turns into a pro MMA fighter? Why not give him an extra 50 Lbs while you're busy moving the goal posts.

Any way you slice it, if this was a on-the-flash physical altercation, the boxer would have been broken and left in a mutilated heap within one minute.

Here is an interesting video about his body fat measurements:

https://www.facebook.com/eddiehallwsmlegend/videos/903874139733033/

397 lbs and 25% body fat so that would be bout 300 pounds at 0% at 6 ft 2 1⁄2 in.

If the boxer gets too close it`s game over ;D

Boxing is very technical.  The strongman is carrying too much mass to punch effectively for more than a minute or two.  Also he doesn't have a height or reach advantage on his opponent so he can't use his size as much as he would need to.  However a decently trained pro heavyweight would probably be able to drop the smaller boxer pretty easily.  Only an idiot would be surprised that a strongman can't beat a pro boxer at a boxing match.  2 different crafts.
