Cephissus's chart seemed to show that whether you call it a complex carb or a simple carb, and regardless of the chemical composition, except for a few outliers they affect the blood sugar and insulin pretty similarly.

This means there's a heck of a lot of bro science and people talking out of their asses about the differences between carbs and their effect on the body.

First of all we don't know if this is actually a true representation of what has been done or even if it has really been done.
Second this chart doesn't take time into account.

If you would take some measurements over time (let's say every 2 mins) there will be a significant difference between simple carbs and complex carbs.
Also the effect on the body is very different.

the glycemic chart is BS anyway, we never eat just a potato as a meal anyway. The meal with have fats and carbs redering this whole debate totally and completely useless.

I just ate a baked potato and pot roast.

If I eat a piece of cake, will the carbs from cake be the same as the carbs in the baked potato?

The piece of cake will most likely contain more simple carbs whereas the potato will have more complex carbs by nature.

What if you use potato flour in the cake?

Perhaps, but after much contemplation, I am beginning to think I am wrong. Thus, I need the continued guidance of getbiggers.

LOL!!!! Don't we all...

But carefully worded everything perfectly here. "beginning to think" meaning, not there yet. "perhaps" not confirming....

Well played!

Each has their place.

My guess is it redlines your blood glucose and insulin because the cake sugar can be very easily assimilated, but you are right, who knows and this whole discussion is something of a demonstration of how little we know.

I'd want an implant that measures blood sugar 24/7 wirelessly hooked up to my computer to monitor this over a long period of time.

I think a lot of really delicious cuisine is the result of poor people trying to make deliciois food.  Stuff like chop sued and soulf food.

So eating some rice warmed up with a little butter in order to avoid eating pie and ice cream like I did tonight was a fools errand?
