That's what I thought too initially.  The video replay clearly shows Royce threw 2 knees.  1st was definitely a (now illegal) groin shot then a few seconds later a head shot.  Shamrock felt them both, was stunned and Royce body locked and tripped him.  The fight shouldn't have been stopped either with hammer fists.  Unfortunately, the ref did not see the 1st knee to the groin cause Shamrock didn't react initially.  Suck ass ending.  Royce looked sharp and pretty quick for a 50yr old.

That fight was horrible. Shamrock couldn't pull the trigger to punch or kick like a shot fighter. When he went to the ground he just gave up. He acted like he was paralyzed by the ball kick.  He knew on the ground the master of ground fighting would punish him slowly and he didn't fight back.  Time for both of them to give it up.  Royce should have the biggest spot in the hall of fame in mixed martial arts. I remember his brother Rorian created the UFC and put the skinniest member of the family in it to represent.

Kimbo is nothing but a street fighter.  His cardio is so bad I suspect at his age he has heart problems. I thought he was going to keel over at the end of the fight. It almost looked like a fixed fight but in retrospect I think those two out of shape guys were gassed beyond belief.

I've seen at least a dozen fights where one fighter gets kicked in the groin.


If the groin strike is solid; the instinctive reaction is to stop fighting... bend forward... while holding the groin. That is the universal reaction. The ref then gives the fighter a 5 minute break (if needed)

Ken was wearing a protective cup. He didn't turn away. He didn't bend forward. He didn't stop fighting.

He is a sad fighter these days.

The Gracie's made the sport and then destroyed it as fast with their slow fighting style.  Wasn't for Dana white starting the reality show that saved this from being a side show gone wrong.

Dana White ruined the sport the same way Stalin ruined the USSR.... tried to concentrate all the power at the top.

The fighters put their heart and soul into fighting only to realize that MAYBE they will get lucky and be able to make a living off it. Meanwhile, Dana White lives like a getbig CEO -- never giving anything back. So obviously after enough time fighters just say fuck off to the UFC. There's no career in it. Boxing might be a long shot to "make it" but at least it can be done.

Who is saying fuck off to the ufc? Guys would give their left nut to be in the promotion. Dana turned it into a billion dollar industry.

UFC is the only real game in town. The other organizations are minor players. UFC and a big boxing pay per view can do the same sales numbers. The difference is the headliner fight in boxing the fighters will get paid 10-20 million each and the top UFC guys will be lucky to get chump change. UFC keeps the lion's share.
