Every university in South Africa is pretty much closed due to protests, since exams last December. The students are protesting that they have to pay for university, and that some of them are excluded (by the way, I lectured electronics to third year students who didn't know ohms law), that some of them are being excluded (entry is a 45% pass rate from school), and that the university is using (wait for it) external cleaning companies as the workers want their kids to go to uni for free as employees kids or something. There is a fucking hashtag campaign called "#feesMustFall". FFUUUCCCKKK it is insane, how anyone would value a free fucking education from africa is beyond me. Buildings have been burnt, cactuses have been lifted up and broken etc. etc. Dindu Style over here, and it is close to a "#passOnePassAll" situation . Really. I am part of the literal 10% that pay taxes, so I am paying for all the burnt buildings etc. as well as my own education up to and including masters level. During that time I remember my prof, supervisor and I hiding behind a locked door, silent, as political science students marched and sang through the building trashing shit.
Fucking study, don't protest. Students should be banned from politics
