Arron Baker. 1979 AAU Teenage Mr. Tarhill (North Carolina).  Brother Baker won, I got 4th. Wish I had a picture.

As do I.  I don't even have pictures from the last show I was in where I was at my all time best.  Young and cheap and poor and stupid.  gone into some photographers trash bin decades ago, priceless to me.

My only hope now is at some point aliens land on earth and say they've had cameras and video running on all of earth 24/7 for the last 5000 years.

people can't understand what a big deal this was back then.  DLB takes more pictures every time she takes a shit than I had of my first 5 shows.

Personally,I`1d say Leon Brown who trained with Arnold and the boys and the ageless Elliot Gilchrist,who competed against the best of his day for decades also.

If you`re so inclined,look up their records on musclememory....true legends that competed against upper echelon guys for decades.

There have plenty more but most here other than the old timers would remember them.


Like I said,I`m nobody but it was a distinct pleasure to meet and talk to these guys and to have been in the same shows with them.

I stood onstage at the tampa pro with dan, bob chic, and ron avidan back in 2006.

It was after the contest, but literally, I was on the stage taking pics afterwards.  Met a bunch of other folks, whole bunch of backstage odd sights and smells.   David Henry looked like an alien in person, I mean no videos or pics can bring his graininess justice, it was just like he was carved out of little squiggly worms of rock.  Goodness knows how much lasix or whatever else is needed to get a person that dry, but wow, it was impressive.  If DH is 5 foot 11, he has a stack of Sandows.

I competed with Aaron 3 times in 1981'.. 'Mr. Golden west' (Aaron won and I placed 3rd).. 'Jr. Cal' (Aaron took 2nd in the light heavies and I took second in the middles).. 'Jr. USA' (I don't remember how Aaron placed  here.. I was just out of the top 5 in the middles)..
