review was civil and mentioned large amount I paid him

was placed in the not recoomended category  which is at bottom one tiny link

I am a published writer though and grad of top university in USA and review was a impeccably written critique.

So basically when you try and warn the world, the communique is suppressed.

Yelp is bullshit. People just make shit up and are really harsh.

They hid my reviews as well, when I had a legitimate case. If they are policing it so much and filitering out opinions, what's the point of the site even existing? Yelp was supposed to be more objective, but its critically flawed. Only entertaining to read for some of the horror stories.

Yeah, Yelp reviews are hardly objective. Someone can go to a restaurant, and if one bad (minor) thing happens, they rail the place, as if a major catastrophe happened.

All the review sites are the same, none of them keep it real.  It should be like Getbig, anything goes and leave it up to the viewers discretion to sort out what's what.

Yelp hides reviews by people who are not active members of the Yelp community. I would suggest first posting a few 3 or 4 star reviews of places you frequent and adding some friends via their Facebook API and then your other post will appear as a review and be no longer hidden. For obvious reasons, Yelp is concerned about people making one-off anonymous and defamatory posts or on the flip-side getting paid to post glowing five star reviews. If you notice, 95% of hidden reviews are either one star or five star. BTW, I used to work at Yelp until I was fired for asking my boss to pay us a fair wage.  ;D

Yelp shakes companies down for monthly payouts to "optimize" the algorithm used to rank reviews.  This lawyer is probably paying to keep negative reviews hidden

No seriously, that is ridiculous.  Yelp does it and Avvo (reviews lawyers) does it as well.  A bad review and the attorney simply gets it removed. Also, these reviews are fake as fuck.   Obvious to see the same person is writing reviews for certain places.  Lots of getbiggers on here have great eyes in uncovering clues to spot that crap right away - lol the gimmick accounts that would get outed back in the day just based on how they wrote posts were hilarious.

I understand a person's experience is subjective, but some people complain over the tiniest things. Its ridiculous.
