I watched it.  It's something that everyone should watch.  Everyone in every civilized country.  He is 100% correct.

To summarize.  Journalist says that journalism has been hijacked by....

1.  Sensationalists that put profits before journalism.  Putting out the "news" that will get the most views and the most clicks.

2.  Activists disguised as reporters.  Not telling the whole truth, manipulating people to see the world they do.

3.  Political correctness.

There was a reporter, Christine chubbuck, who killed herself on the air in the seventies and while she had a shit load of other problems that led to her suicide, she was very troubled by the starting trend of sensationalism in journalism. It was even part of her monologue before she shot herself.

yeah journalism was not sensationalized 100 years ago

ever hear of the newspaper mogul the film Citizen Kane is based on?

The quasi-biographical film examines the life and legacy of Charles Foster Kane, played by Welles, a character based in part upon the American newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst, Chicago tycoons Samuel Insull and Harold McCormick, and aspects of Welles's own life. Upon its release, Hearst prohibited mention of the film in any of his newspapers. Kane's career in the publishing world is born of idealistic social service, but gradually evolves into a ruthless pursuit of power. Narrated principally through flashbacks, the story is told through the research of a newsreel reporter seeking to solve the mystery of the newspaper magnate's dying word: "Rosebud".

William Randolph Hearst (/hɜːrst/;[1] April 29, 1863 – August 14, 1951) was an American newspaper publisher who built the nation's largest newspaper chain and whose methods profoundly influenced American journalism.[2] Hearst entered the publishing business in 1887 after taking control of The San Francisco Examiner from his father. Moving to New York City, he acquired The New York Journal and engaged in a bitter circulation war with Joseph Pulitzer's New York World that led to the creation of yellow journalism—sensationalized stories of dubious veracity. Acquiring more newspapers, Hearst created a chain that numbered nearly 30 papers in major American cities at its peak. He later expanded to magazines, creating the largest newspaper and magazine business in the world.

He was twice elected as a Democrat to the U.S. House of Representatives, and ran unsuccessfully for Mayor of New York City in 1905 and 1909, for Governor of New York in 1906, and for Lieutenant Governor of New York in 1910. Nonetheless, through his newspapers and magazines, he exercised enormous political influence, and was famously blamed for pushing public opinion with his yellow journalism type of reporting leading the United States into a war with Spain in 1898.

Haven't watched or read the news for the last couple of years and intend to keep it this way. This is very liberating must say. Not bothered by constant drama, fear factor etc.

CBS, NBC, ABC, NY Times, Washington Post, Huffington post, MSNBC, and all the rest pound the drums for the liberal agenda. They guide and manipulate the sheep. We live in dangerous times. Pick just about any major news provider. With an open mind ask yourself article by article regarding a politics or a political position are they promoting the left while putting down conservative values?  Even watch something like Saturday Night live a comedy show by liberal NBC. When they do characters of political figures they include Obama but Obama is always played with a respect compared to the others.

Now we have a site like Facebook deleting, blocking and restricting the audience for any anti Muslim migration posts in Germany. The German people are protesting Merkel's insanity of bringing unvetted Muslim men of fighting age to Germany and giving them free housing and monthly check on the tax payer's back. When a German citizen uses Facebook to voice their opinion regarding the situation they find they get a warning about being removed from facebook, deleted, blocked or a restriction of audience.

The problem is uneducated/uninformed people don't know any better.

Then there is a huge portion that doesn't care.

Then there are people who think it doesn't matter even if they do care.

To blame the media though... "it is what it is." What's the alternative? State-run media? Nobody would agree with that. These companies that put out the news are businesses and, quite simply, money is the lifeblood of a company so they're going to go after it.

I wouldn't trust a state-run news outlet anymore than the dailymail drivel that's posted so often.

I think that comparing the level of sensationalism today to to that of 100 plus years ago is absurd.

Regardless, in my opinion the bigger issue today is that the press is full of political activists, mostly leftists.  They really want stories to be a certain way so thus they make it so.  The evidence is everywhere and is impossible to refute.  At least in the 60's the leftists in the press pretended to be impartial.  Now they don't bother.  A lot of people will counter with something about Fox news, blah blah blah.  Yes, but Fox news is vastly outnumbered as essentially the only one of their kind.  Also, they were created largely to counter the liberal media monopoly.  The press having any bias or agenda is bad but please lets not pretend it's exactly the same on both sides of the aisle.  It most certainly isn't.  The press, with the exception of right leaning Fox News, is one giant echo chamber trying to influence the people to see things their way.  There is no such thing as honest, impartial journalism anymore.

FOX News is pulling support for Marco Rubio, officially.  Let's add them to the list of those who are most definitely not 'fair and balanced'.

Fair & balanced, huh??

Fox News chairman Roger Ailes has signaled a withdrawal of support for Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), New York Magazine reported on Wednesday.

“We’re finished with Rubio,” Ailes reportedly said to a Fox host. “We can’t do the Rubio thing anymore.”

The magazine cited three sources within the conservative network, reporting that Ailes’ frustration with the Tea Party senator stemmed from a New York Times story published on Saturday stating that Rubio, along with Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) met with Ailes and the network’s owner, Rupert Murdoch in January 2013 to lobby in support of the “Gang of 8” immigration bill they were pushing at the time.

The two lawmakers also reportedly met with conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh. Limbaugh has said on his radio show that Schumer “explained” the measure to him, a statement Schumer has not confirmed.

“Roger hates seeing his name in print,” an unidentified “associate” of Ailes told the magazine. “He was appalled the dinner was reported.”

Since the network has had a contentious relationship with Republican front-runner Donald Trump, Ailes is allegedly “searching” for a new candidate that the network can back.

It's not about what the opinion of the outlets are, it's why those topics are the only ones presented to the people and others ignored. News outlets with paradox opinions are still only reporting on the same carefully selected stories that is what to ponder about.

The answer to that should feel like a tire-iron across the temple.  It is due to a very small group of individuals controlling all information from the top, down.  All the 1000-plus channels, filtering through a very narrow lens created behind closed doors.  Yes, all controlling forces in it, meet behind closed doors.

The media is our worst enemy, and our biggest threat going forward.
