Not a myth, but significantly easier if the oscillators share a uniformly kinetically responsive medium (i.e: the moving sheet on rollers in the video).

I have been told by a watch repairman that two pendulum clocks on the same wall will interfere with each other and neither will be able to keep the correct time.
