Held up as the model of aesthetics. Was he really, though?

That wasn't his best look.

I actually prefer early '70s Zane, with the Elvis hair.

Looks fantastic. If you saw that at the beach you'd be in awe.

He could have carried more size, in some poses he looks kinda skinny but still, great physique but not what I wanna see as Mr O. Just too small.

Zane should start his own federation and reward the nice physiques like him. I think his status could pull this off.

I don't think you would be. Or at least, I wouldn't be. He's not complete shit, but he seriously might not have the best body or shape at a decent Planet Fitness. There's a group of teenaged latino kids that workout at my gym and all 3 look at least as good as he does.

I've never understood how he was considered aesthetic.  His shoulder to waist ration isn't dramatic at all.  His hams lagged behind his quads.  He was a pretty complete bodybuilder overall.  No freaky parts that's for sure.  I'm a huge fan of aesthetics and I've never been a fan of Zane's physique.
Come get me.

This is what I'm getting at and I fully expected anyone who responded to be ready to say he had the ultimate aesthetic physique. People have just said "Zane is ultimate aesthetics!" over and over, but it's almost like it's not related to what he actually looked like. His arms stand out somewhat because everything else is so small, but no great bodyparts and even shape was not really that impressive.

And that very thing could be why one could consider him aesthetic. Because nothing stood out. Everything flowed together.

It's one thing when no body part overpowers the others. It's another to have no great bodyparts. Plenty of guys at my gym have no great bodyparts, but that doesn't make them symmetrical or aesthetic.

Zane in his prime was a God. His physique stood the test of time. Columbu's and Draper's did not. I think he used a very small amount of gear. This in contrast to today's fitness elite, who use a lot of different things
How Zane looked is still how 99% of women appreciate it.

To me BB is about health and balance. Not a freak show where some guys have a muscle group that stands out. They belong in wrestling or a circus

If steroids were legal to buy at the pharmacy I would take enough of them to carry around Zane's amount of mass. He was probably taking around 1.5grams of gear a week, compared to todays pros who use 4grams + extras lol.

Geez, if bodybuilding fans can't even appreciate why Zane was aesthetic or a legitimate Mr Olympia or whatever, then... no wonder you have the rubbish on stage that you do now.

A.) why do you let "legality" define your moral compass?
B.) you have no idea what Zane used
C.) where are the pics?

Zane just could not get as big as some of those guys like Arnold, Franco, Sergio, Ric Wayne, etc.  so he made the most of what he had.

"Aesthetics" is like a choice between vanilla and chocolate, all a matter of taste.  Who is more aesthetic Zane or Sergio?  Zane or Nubret?  Zane or Robby?  Zane or Mentzer? Says who?

If it is a question of how I'd like to look?  I'd want a lot more muscle than Zane.  We all have a sickness wanting more size.  It's bodybuilding.
