"A pro-gun activist has been accidentally shot in the back by her four-year-old son.

Just hours earlier Jamie Gilt, 31, had boasted about how her child had been taking part in firearm safety training.

Police say the injured woman told them he had fired the gun through the back of her seat while he was sat in the rear of the car in which they were travelling in Putnam County, Florida."

So she exercised her right to own a gun and now SHE'S the perpetrator?

This kid is a career criminal and solely to blame. There are weapons around us everyday but not everyone picks up a kitchen knife and cuts people up! Lock the kid away for life.

Anyone who has kids that keeps a loaded unlocked gun in their house deserves to have their rights stripped. It's proof that they are too stupid to handle the responsibility.

No! I'm 100% pro gun with common sense. But safety comes first. No need to keep a loaded gun around the house with kids! Keep a locked gun close with ammunition nearby should the situation arise.

If the mom had a gun, then she could have protected herself from her child. Now, if the person down the block had a gun, he/she could have protected the mom and child from each other. Now if the person two blocks away owned a gun, he/she could have protected the person down the block, as well as the mother and child.
