Do you have much exposure to poor people? Perhaps you do. I have plenty, five days per week, eight hours at a shot. For the ones I'm exposed to, I'd say the average IQ is in the 70's or 80's.

This is the problem I have with "socialist", they try to fit everyone into their little "fairness" model, never taking into account some people are smarter and more dedicated. They get ahead due their abilities, and along comes Bernie, to take their stuff and give it away. The seem to think that those who do well is purely luck or somehow ill gotten and they don't deserve it.

He in no way has ever advocated that the "ditch digger" be paid what the CEO is paid.  He argues that people be paid enough so that a reasonable standard of living can be attained.
Anyone who works or is willing to work full time should be able to do that.  And along those lines, should be able to live in a home, have a car to drive, send kids to college, see a doctor, take the family on a summer vacation and be able to retire at an age where they can still enjoy what life has to offer.  Once upon a time that was called The American Dream.  Now, it's called communism.

bt yes, 99.9% of the time... in the USA at least... the opportunities are always there.  Anyone who is 18 can spend 4 years in military, get loans as needed, and then decide if he wants to be a $35,000 steady worker, or go for something entrepreneurial and get creative.

if you're willing to go to school and willing to work 50-60 hours a week, then there's a 99.99% chance it's your own fault if poor.
