trump is the exact reason why a simple "most votes" does not win.
very few countries (only the shit ones) have a most votes win system.
for the same reason some nutjob who manages to corrupt the public into voting in a law or idea - the parliament has members who decide.
its to make sure that the shit really doesnt hit the fan.
and it works well and is a model used in most countries.
its no conspiracy or corporate scam. its called government. before crying foul, maybe research how government works and why it is the way it is, before joining the angry mob. think for yourself, educate yourself and dont just gobble up what the other guy said.
a microcosm of it is in sport. the fans will all believe one thing- and they let the teams know- but the board and the coach , the team and the captain make the call. they can decide to do what the fans want, or not.
like in sport, only those in the team know the real truth, and they also know the game better and the team. so they might hear the fans, but if that doesnt work in the best interest of the team, they wont do it.
ultimately they are responsible for the team's performance.
