Well he was never going to write Beethovens 9th Symphony anyway

on a serious note it sucks losing a loved pet, the feeling of not being able to help them or explain to them whats happening is horrible.Chin up, millions more pets out there who would love to be treated how you loved your dog.Give another a chance of a great life.

Sorry about your dog, TA.

We're in no way close but I do realize it wasn't a decision you made lightly.

Sorry about your dog, TA.

Its been tough.  I nursed him through a stroke in January and he made a full recovery after a month.  Most people would have put him down then, but he wanted to fight and I was there for him every long step of the way.  Dogs can recover 100 percent from those if you are willing to care for them and I did.

He had a sudden high temperature fever and blood in his stool and he was miserable.  I could not let that persist.  The thinking is that he may have had a brain tumor or cancer of some sort, that brought on the stroke (which he recovered from) and it reared its head again with fever and GI bleeding.

We opted not to X-Ray or any of that at his age, also that would have traumatized him to no end.  He was not that type of dog.  He never left my side more than 8 hours since I got him.  Same thing with my other one.  Strange not having any dogs around and I doubt Jezebelle and I can ever bring ourselves to get another one.  It hurts man.

Sorry to hear that.  My wife loves those little Dachsunds.  So much personality.  Its hard.  I can't even read about other people's animals passing without that lump in my throat and hot feeling.

Humans don't deserve dogs or animals!

It's beyond my comprehension how people can bond so hard with beasts.
Are they social challenged and can only interact socially with animals? And they do it so they don't get mentally ill?

Not judjing.

i think its because of the absolute unconditional love they can give a person. ive never had that close of a relationship with anyone other than my parents, and even then, im sure there would be moments when that would change. I think people who CANT feel this bond have issues as well. it goes both ways

Very sorry to hear this, TA. Losing a dog is very tough. Mine is only 2 years old and I already dread the thought of him dying one day and not being around anymore. Maybe after some time passes, you will feel like getting another dog. How old was Darwin by the way?
