Its been tough.   I doubt Jezebelle and I can ever bring ourselves to get another one.  It hurts man.
Took me 1 1/2 years to even consider getting another dog after my girl Sarah.

Sorry for your loss, Loosing a pet especially a dog can be devastating, people who have ant own pets or bonded with one just don't understand.

I feel for you. I had this experience one time and it was one of the most terrible moments of life actually.

Don't know if I willingly would get a dog again for this reason

Damn that sucks.

No amount of words will ever relay the amount of sadness I feel for any pet owner who loses a loved one. Nor does it convey enough comfort.

Godspeed to Darwin.

Much love Adonis.

Very sad. But, what has given me solace over the last couple of years (I lost two) but currently have three. These guys live in the moment so to anyone with dogs, be there in that moment with them. As I get older I realise that more and more. No room for negativity, just make each and every moment of life count. Being with my brood is the happiest times of my life. Everything I do is around them and it makes me truly happy. Ive gone thru many personal issues health and wotnot and theyve always kept me sane. I like people but I love dogs. You'll never fill the void but then why would you want to. Even when they r no longer there they r still part of u. Time, distance, death can only make all those moments infinately more special and cherished. So realise them all live in the moment every second if your life.

Adam,I`m so sorry to hear it my friend.

My 70 pound pitbull mix died mysteriously just last week..........no symptoms just woke up to him dead on the floor.

I cry uncontrollably when I think about him....had him for 14 years since he was first born.......plenty of piss and vinegar left that is what perplexes me.

Stay strong my brother.   :(

Sorry for everyone's loss in this thread.

45 years ago my dad and me took our Labrador to be put down. He was very ill and 13 years old, a bit older than me so I had grown up with him.
The memory haunts me to this day.
When we got back in the car John Denver came on the radio singing Country Road. I have always hated that song since that moment and still crack up if I hear it and have to turn it off.

Well I was only around 10 at the time. Thought we were going to the vet to make Benny better.  When my dad came out to the waiting room where I was sitting he said "ok , we're going home now" and I said "where's Benny"?    "Benny's gone son" he said.   Then that fuckin John Denver record came on in the car so no wonder I'm traumatised to this day.
