It's like letting your weekend adult softball player show up to Spring Training.

Nothing against the woman but it's a huge hit to credibility for the "sport."

Here's a serious question, and I know we have competitors on this board, but how did they feel if someone like this ever came out on stage?

I'm not talking the people who did it because it was a gag or a lost bet but people like the woman who obviously don't take it seriously enough and/or put in the time required.

She's like a 'brew version of the broad featured in my "Whale of a Time" thread (went nowhere).

It's embarrassing to stage an event and then have this walk out to centre stage. As another says, it destroys any possible credibility the event might have had.

One time I had a fellow bodybuilding competitor come out for his free posing routine and begin to mimic surfing to the strains of Beach Boys music. The reject was fat, pale and had perhaps 80 pounds of lean mass on his 160-pound "physique".

As well, he wore a Speedo and had tufts of pubes poking from the top of it.

Brutal "sport".

Look, I'm all for the "go me!" / personal victory stories, but save them for something like a 12-week transformation contest.  These are called "competitions,"  and no one in their right mind would go into a bodybuilding/fitness competition like this actually thinking they'd have a shot.  So much for integrity when a lot of others actually did bust their asses the correct way to enter a competition.  ::)

I had a nice workout today, so I'm full of endorfins. And you know what? I agree with the person who wrote the description to these files. You have no idea about her story, you don't know why she's there. She's on her own journey and she looks very happy on that stage, so why hate?

Seriously, nobodys road in life is more important than somebody elses.

Damn that felt good, positivity... huh..

I am not hating on her. More power to her, but the spectators and 14 fans that remain of bodybuilding want to see serious competitors. That's all.

Maybe this woman worked her ass off. That's fantastic and I wish her the best. But to say this is competitive is like saying that Jacque Pelletier (butchered spelling) guy who is 80 years old should be next to the cream of the crop IFBB competitors.

I don't think she went on stage thinking she could beat anyone else except herself, tho

The issue is that as long as you pay an entrance fee, you can compete on the amateur level, no matter what you look like. Yet, in other amateur level sports, you still need to be qualified to play. Minor league baseball and hockey leagues do not let EVERYONE play. Its below pro level, but you still have to meet a certain criteria to play (actually be good).

Bingo. I am so tired of people thinking that the place to show off a Weight loss is to get on a bodybuilding stage.  Then the audience has to sit through this. Everyone doesn't belong on stage

x2. I have absolutely no problem with this lady being proud that she lost weight. So, good on her if she lost weight. However, as you stated, stepping on stage is a whole different story. There should be SOME standard. The problem is that bodybuilding is too subjective to determine a standard.

Agreed.

A bodybuilding/physique stage is NOT the place to make a statement that you're a "strong, proud" woman and/or lost some excess pounds.

As stated, there must be a minimal standard of preparedness.

This Latifah broad ain't it.
