Maybe, maybe not. I personally don't think the precipice of the singularity is going to be how well machines replicate human actions and emotions. I don't think mechanical sentience necessarily has to look like human thought processes, and I don't think it has to wear a human face, either.

They would realize AI into the population without us ever knowing it. Hell Hitler was messing around with anti-gravity saucer crafts in the late 30's-40's and most people still don't believe that...

Scientists Create Successful Biohybrid Being Using 3-D Printing and Genetic Engineering


The new engineered animal responds to light so well scientists were able to guide it through an obstacle course 15 times its length using strong and weak light pulses.

The study authors write, "Our ray outperformed existing locomotive biohybrid systems in terms of speed, distance traveled, and durability (six days), demonstrating the potential of self-propelled, phototactically activated tissue-engineered robots."

Surprised that nobody has suggested that this could make bodybuilding obsolete. It would be where the practice of exercise for looks or performance increase is something archaic and looked down upon for being a waste of time.
