Hey, GB...

Anybody have a small business/ firm/ start up/ side hustle? Either in addition to your regular job or as a go-for-broke opportunity to become a millionaire?

I've been kicking the tires at starting a new business (in a completely different field) for about half a decade. Over the last year, in addition to my day job, I've been doing some freelancing as media consultation/pr for smaller film projects, bands, fashion and art projects. Not really much additional money, but it was really more about working in a more creative environment since my current 9-5 is the stodgiest, most technical place I've worked in a while.

Got an interview in a week for the Relationship Talk mod position. Good pay, 401K match, long hours but 90% no commuting. This is a tremendous growth area and online dating and advice is only projected to grow. Get it while you can.

The point of the thread isn't really ideas to make money, it's to discuss your burgeoning small business or side job.

Why stop at one? Have you learned nothing from the teachings of goodrum, the more businesses the better. If you work really hard a new 24" tv and the occasional chicken dinner awaits you

Personal Train 3x week in early mornings @ 5am and 6am. And then 4-6x week in evenings, occasional weekends.

Gives me an extra $1200 - $1500 a month.
All have become close friends, so it's bearable.

He was actually part of the inspiration for this thread. I was texting with a music blogger about a club date I'm hosting this coming weekend and we got on the subject of a graphic e-novel project that I'm putting together. He sent me a text joking about how I must be Jamaican and I should be careful I don't get fired from my real job.

Most people at my "real job" have personal projects that they invest a lot of time in. Some make more money with said projects than others. I've never had a run-in with Vince, but he is the only member I recall who has discussed his personal business ventures.

Similar. Got some designs for slurry/sludge pumps. Not especially genius but more advanced than the 1930s technology that's still in use on every mine site, drill rig, poop plant, and concrete truck. Will probably never find the time to build them and if I do it would just be for personal use in shotcrete and stucco spraying. No way would I have the time to run around selling them or the capital to sink into saturating the market, which is what you have to do since patents are only worth your willingness to finance living in a courtroom for decades while some 3rd world manufacturer steals your design, knocks up 500,000 units, and floods the world. Wish you luck. Seems like anything new you introduce gets ripped off within 48 hours tho, patented or not. I reckon catching the front of the sales wave is the best you can hope for, or fractions of a penny on the dollar selling out/licensing to a giant.

We're starting an athletic apparel business. Shorts, Tee's, tanks, hats, beanies, hoodies, etc. Plus the coaching at the school brings in an extra $3k a month.

My bad I thought he was referring to weekly pay. I sounds like 6 morning sessions, 2 sessions 3x week.
