I heard it might have something to do with spinal stenosis with advanced age?

The threat is indeed real. Matt Mendenhall is a good example. Still in great shape for his age, but his former awesome tris just don't look right, even taking into account him not being as large as back then. Note that the lower edge of the tricep seems ragged and torn, perhaps a side effect of it retreated up the arm as it atrophies?

Mine just basically shrank. I've always had relatively strong triceps and still do, but they just are flat with no fullness or pop. Very disappointing. If my tris matched my bis I would have a nice 18.5-19" arm.

Heavy, weighted bench dips will cure this phenomenon

Not always. I've been doing heavy weighted dips (i am actually between sets as I wrote this) for years and it hasn't stopped ARTA. Maybe slowed it down.

(Heavy == 90 pounds on belt. Maybe not enough?)

Wait, are "bench dips" those shoulder-wrecking dips with your hands behind you and your feet on a bench?

Set up your high bench.. and do your "bench dips" on your TDS unit

That might be better for your shoulders

I like regular parallel bar dips. They don't bother me at all. As soon as my shoulder tendonitis is done, I will get back to close-grip benching, but honestly nothing helps.

Yes sadly I think it's real. Maybe too many years of heavy pressing movements actually causes it. Look how ronnie's triceps shrank (although this probably has a lot to do with his spinal surgeries etc.). I also read that GH causes pointy elbows over time although I dunno how true this is. With that said, I've looked at pictures of Jack Lalanne when he was old and his triceps were not that different from when he was young.

I also have high tricep insertions, like at the fucking rear delt, ffs. My wife has gorgeous low insertions near the elbow and has great tricep lines. Grumble. I can still take her in biceps, tho!

No it won't. You don't think AJ has tried everything in the book?

I think ronnie has bursitis, his one elbow seams to be ok with the other looking horrible,  there fluid that builds up from the inflamation that needs to be removed.  I saw other people non weightlifters with the same exact thing. when i first saw it I thought it must be from the growth aswell.
plus i think his spinal chord shrank his triceps aswell threw cervical or upper thoracic vertebral disc herniation that presses on the nerve cause the tricep muscle to not respond to hypertrophy

If it's an entrapment, you might have some success with a Chiropractor who practices ART (Active Release Technique).

There is a cure for this.

Worry about speed, strength, and the domination of suburban flag football circuits.

As you stare admirably at your latest championship trophy, the size of your putrid triceps will be an afterthought, at worst, or completely forgotten, at best.

Trust me, I am very aware and quite happy in life. That doesn't mean that I can't aspire for more, nor does it mean that I will be delusional with myself when I hit a side tricep.  :-X

Use enough lube and I doubt you'll even feel it.

A lot of bro science and poor advice in this thread. Yes, your muscle has atrophied so the secret is weighted dips  ::)

Weighted dips.... It's a proven, guaranteed approach

Yet Vince Taylor and the Ageless One were in their 50s still competing and had full triceps.
