Hmmm punching someone in the face is aggression not violence. I'll have to remember that!
Aggression is an act to cause injury to another another person.
Violence is the same, except it's an EXTREME form of aggression, such as rape, murder (blowing someones head off, slashing their throats), child physical abuse. In essence, violence attempts to cause
extreme physical harm to another.
Which is why in American common law, assault is typically treated as a misdemeanor and not as a felony. The more serious crime of aggravated assault is treated as a felony (Aggravated assault is an attempt to cause serious bodily injury to another or to cause serious bodily injury purposely, knowingly or recklessly, with an extreme indifference to the value of human life---this would probably fall under violence, not aggression).
I'd say if she was charged, she would not be charged with a felony, as her poor attempt at a punch, did not appear to represent extreme forms of violence, nor did it cause the man extreme physical or bodily harm, nor did it appear that she had an indifference to human life. Of course, it's still wrong, and she should pay the consequences, but I am just correcting the OP regarding the proper usage of the terms.
