Shawn Ray was flawless that year for him. He should have beaten Dorian on gut alone. That was the beginning of this trend. Dorian is patient 0. Isn't this also the year he tore his bicep. It's a travesty they kept giving him Olympias. This is when conditioning and size started counting more than shape and symmetry. This is where it all began. It should have been Shawn, Kevin, then Dorian.

No, Dorian should have won in 92, 93,95 and 96. He should have lost in 94 and 97. His race has nothing to do with it.

No, incorrect,your top 3 appears to be based purely on skin tone and is no coincidence that the lighter the skin the lower the placing,and dorian only tore his bicep on purpose that year to give those lazy Hebrews a chance and they still failed miserably

Shawn Ray is relatively light skinned. I think that he tanned leading up to a show.

This is correct, but there is some sort of trend that the reigning Mr Olympia can't be beaten, and then re take his crown. Once defeated, it's like they'll never let them win again.

He's overrated , won 2 pro contests in his entire career pretty lackluster. He's good at marketing himself as something he's not , exceptional. Great competitor , awesome physique but facts-are-facts. He did well for himself despite his deficits.

1994 Shawn Ray is better than anything Dexter ever brought to table. Shawn didn't compete as often. Dexter and Shawn is like Ronnie and Flex. People want to look like Flex but Ronnie wins shows.

Not that he wasn't good, he was to be sure. But, it's easy to be consistent being he spent the bulk of his career essentially competing once a year. His physique looked great, but going by the criteria, he was never the remotest threat to Yates. Ray didn't exactly rack up the pro wins, which is why he's overrated.

do people realize that the reason that shawn only has 2 pro wins is that he basically only competed in 1 show per year (the Olympia) from 1992 onwards?

guys like Ronnie and levrone compete at all kinds of shows. Olympia, Arnold classic, grand prix shows, night of champions etc.

shawn almost never did. a few exceptions, but mainly he was an Olympia only competitor.

had he chose to go the route of the others on a regular basis its highly likely he would have more than only 2 wins.

Shawn was all marketing like it was mentioned already, his physique is outstanding, no denying that

His concentration was only the O and he knew if he competed more often he can't hold his condition, now winning other shows I don't know, that era was stacked and he wouldn't have gotten pass Nasser, levrone or flex in any shows

Shawn did compete in the 96 Arnold Classic and got 5th place, beaten by flex, levrone, dillet, and Vince Taylor..... So there u go

From a bbing perspective he is overrated

seeing the 3 of them training together shows you the illusion created onstage like in ray's case 5'6-5'7 205,kev is just massive next to him in the studio every which way and strong as fuk too damn...his legs were massive as mentioned 92/93 he guest posed with yates and he was 260 smooth but huge ...
