Kasich won't say who should be punished for abortions
« on: April 03, 2016, 10:50:36 AM »
(CNN)Ohio Gov. John Kasich wants abortion outlawed -- but he wouldn't say Sunday who should be punished for the procedure.

In the wake of Donald Trump's controversial remark that women who undergo abortions should face punishment -- which Trump quickly reversed -- Kasich wouldn't call for penalties for anyone involved in the process.

This is silly.  If you believe abortions should be illegal (I do not), the person who violates the law should be punished.  Law has no meaning if there are no consequences for violating it.  Yes, the woman should certainly be punished... as should the person/facility that conducts the procedure.  That is the logical end of the push to outlaw abortion.*  The people who seek the make abortion illegal never seem to want to talk about this aspect of what they are "fighting" for.

So amusing to watch Trump walk back from this obvious position: the person who violates the law should be punished.  What in the world is controversial about that? ::)

*btw this is a restriction that would only apply to middle class to poor people since people of means could (and would) readily fly to places outside the U.S. to have their abortions if the procedure were ever banned here.
