Most schools put little effort into building a girl's team.  UConn though recruits hard and goes and gets the best high schoolers and brings them in.  So it's an all-star team against a bunch of walk-ons.  Teams won't spend the money on their program since only a couple hundred people will come and watch a regular season game.

Only until recently thus the new competition.  Tennessee was alone for a while, then UConn stepped up their program and now a lot of other schools are.  UConn is something like 127-1 in their last 128 games.  Pretty sick record.

For what they are doing in their sport. college woman's hoops they are that dominant. 4 championships in a row.
No other team in any other sport has had that kind of run lately.
Since 1995 they have won 11 titles.

It is impressive but because there are so few really good women's teams, it is easier for them to recruit the best players.
