FALLS, I can't argue about Zane's popularity nor physical condition back in the day but it is apparent that you were not present back then when the popularity of bodybuilding was just getting underway.
But I can honestly say that if there was a popularity list back then, ZANE would definitely be ranked within the top 5 - 10% and possibly even higher.
And I think I've told you also damn interesting stories about Frank and Christine a good while back so I'll end this here with a hearty ... "Be Positive!" (or something like that!).
WES, Good job on standing up for the elderly guys out thar!!!
So you know I wasn't around back then...lol. OK...so the hippies in Northern part of the state loved him. Palm Springs loved him...along with his flotation/meditation tanks...lol....OK..you win.
When Zane won it was a complete shock. Why? Because the Olympia was being dominated by bigger guys...namely Arnold. Weider was in a state of panic to find a golden boy he could market. Zane did nothing for marketing or pulling in money. After 1980 Weider did away with the "good ol" boys. When I tell you that people in the gym couldn't believe Zane had won his first Olympia, its the truth. You tell me how Zane beat Robby? C'mon...it was a mater of marketing, it still is and Robby is not marketable BUT he did look better than Zane.
Ok, I guess its time for your mid-afternoon nap so I"ll shut up. Have a great one Stunt!
MAKE GETBIG GREAT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
