Shout out to Greg Deferro (underrated 80's guy)
« on: April 17, 2016, 02:30:47 AM »
No one ever talks about Greg "Rocky" Deferro. He had a unique look to him in the early/mid 80's, with a great set of biceps/upper body and quads for his time. RIP.

Attended a Rocky seminar in Philly in 1986.  Things he said that stood out were:

- Freely admitted to using roids and told us what he was currently taking.
- All the people you see in bodybuilding magazines are on at least 3-6 different drugs.
- Arnold had terrible form on chin-ups.  He could only do around 3-5 full range reps with his own bodyweight.
- He could not stand the Weider's.  Said they were greedy and cheap.  He also questioned their sexuality.

So what was his stack?

He was not underrated.  He looked good and was acknowledged accordingly.  :)

What tier, though?

Isn't that the eternal question?

I remember one of them was Test.  I think the others were anavar and winny.

He also said that Arnold loved Dbol and Primobolan and Parabolan.

Unpossible. Everybody knows that this "anavar" does not exist. It's like a unicorn or Bigfoot.

For his time and peer group he was tier 3 with tier 2 potential.  :D

I met Greg in the early 90s.. Good guy.. Was doing the usual personal training.. He was one of the " golden age" guys that did freely admit that he used big dosages.. When I saw him he was still quit large and looked great.. A bit of a " belly" but still looked good.. Trained hard as hell.. His workout partner told me that Greg was very open about what he took back then and seemed " proud" to discuss it..
The only thing I can remember was that test was kept fairly low ( around 600 mgs) because he was concerned about geno ect.. But he lived winny and when he could get parabolan he took it.. He told me he was quit broke at the time and could only do test ( 600 mgs) 50mgs of winny tabs a day , and deca ( I thought he said 400mgs) .. He said if finances improved he wanted to compete again .. His partner told me that Greg trained a doctor in exchange for hgh but Greg never mentioned the hgh..

Greg was married to a good Italian girl who supported him financially. He qualified for the 1983 Munich Olympia but only got as far as London where he met a hot blonde and wound up missing the Olympia altogether.

My memories of the guy aren't so nice. We had to throw him out of the local Golds Gym in South Jersey were he trained for the Masters Olympia after his ex wife (who was a police offer) had a restraining order against him in which he was violating.  He wasn't very nice to the staff or other random members.  He strung along a nice, but totally naive soft muscled bad genetic training partner who had zero chance of ever even placing at a local show by telling him that he was going to set him up with the Weiders.

In his early 40's he looked easily in his mid-50's. I took my first personally training certification with him sitting next to me eating hardboiled eggs and tuna.  Totally stunk up the room.  He had a gym that the banks literally had to put chains and locks on the doors with him taking discounted paid in full annual memberships the night before.

He came back to the local Golds after my buddy and I had driven to Atlanta to attend that Masters and Mr. O and told the staff and members that he finished right behind Lou.  He said it with a poker face not realizing that we were cracking up knowing that he was disqualified and didn't even compete in the night show.  As a gift they let him guest pose that night.
