National qualification

I heard that last weekends Northern KY competition awarded National competition status to 18 contestants!  Could that be true?  I've never heard more than the top 2-5 ever making the cut.

The NPC Northern KY BB & Figure show is a National Qualifier and to my knowledge one of the largest national qualifiers in the country.  There were over 230 total competitors with more than 60 in Figure alone.  As a judge of this show, I was incredibly impressed with both the quality and the quantity of the Figure athletes.  There ended up being 6 classes of Figure and as the NPC guidelines state - the top 3 in each class qualify to compete at National level shows.  Congratulations to all that competed and especially to those that qualified.  I have no doubt that the top women in this competition can go on to place extremely well at National competitions.
