The previous post to this comment was trying to make the point about responsibilty - why would a single person want the responsiblity that comes with owning property? You missed the point by miles - sure, earning 300K you can afford a house in southern CA, but there are those that don't need the headache, regardless of how great the landlord makes out from the deal.
